Hi all, I have been lurking around here for awhile and thought I would ask for recommendations for audio books. I have a 10 hour drive to and from for spring break. I read a lot of everything. My last road trip I listened to The Art of Racing in the Rain and loved it. Cried at the end. If I want to participate more in here can I just jump in?

Yep just jump in! What genres do you like? Personally I love Rosalyn Landor as a reader. The Harry Potter series is excellent on audiobook. I like The Rose Garden by Susanna Kearsley it's good as well. The Outlander Series as read by Davina Porter is good too.

I like most all genres expect horror. I have read and loved all the Harry Potter and Outlander series. I am not opposed to listening to something I have already read but thought it would be good to listen to something else. I will look into your other two suggestions. Thank you.
I'm not a huge mystery reader normally, but I loved JK Rowling's two Cormoran Strike audiobooks (under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith): The Cuckoo's Calling and The Silkworm.
If you like nonfiction I Am Malala was also superb.
The Art of Racing in the Rain is one of my favorite audio books ever. I listen to tons of them because my time for real reading is pretty limited. My other favorites on audio that come to mind are: Bossypants, The Book Thief, The Traveling Pants series, Of Mice and Men (read by Gary Sinise), the Maisie Dobbs series, and the Women's Murder Club series.
ETA: Right now I'm listening to the Golem and the Jinni and while it's not fast paced I am really loving it. The narrator is wonderful as well.

I'm waiting for Bossypants to be available at the library. I read and liked The Book Thief. I have also listened to and enjoyed Neil Gaiman's The Ocean at the End of the Lane, and American Gods. I will look into the others. Thank you everyone for the recommendations. I love finding new books and authors to love. I will update what I listened to after I get back.

I can only recommend a few mysteries.
I really like the Hercule Poirot mysteries read by Hugh Fraser (he played Hastings in the BBC/A&E productions). I know there are some read by David Suchet (who played Poirot in the television productions), but I have never listened to those so I can't say how well he does with them. Though I would be they are very good.
Also, the Nero Wolfe mysteries read by Michael Prichard are very well done. My parents would play those on long family trips.
And Megan Follows (who played Anne in the Kevin Sullivan productions) read abridged versions of the first few Anne of Green Gables books. Those are well done, but they are abridged versions of the books.
It's a little older, so you may have already read it, but Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides on audio is really well done. Almost like listening to theater.
The finishing school series by Gail Carriger is great on audiobook. Light and fun. Book 4 comes out next year. The Raven Boys series by Maggie Stiefvater is also great. Book 4 comes out in October. Splintered series by A.G. Howard was good I've listened to Dracula and Frankenstein and enjoyed both of them in audio format. I'm currently listening to the Charley Davidson series by Darynda Jones. It's pretty humorous.
