In honor of the news, what's your favorite episode? Or, if you're ambitious, top 10? :-) There are so many I love, and so hard to choose between the serious ones and the funny ones, but my favorite stand-alone is probably Paper Hearts. Or Pusher. Or Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose. Or...
Just FYI, if you pick one of the ones with Doggett and Reyes, you are DEAD to me.
I need to go back and rewatch a lot of them. H and I rewatched the pilot a week or so ago. Funny thing is, my favorites I've probably only seen once or twice so my 'favorite' status is leftover from the initial airing XD I missed some of the early episodes because I was 12 when it started and I would judge based on the trailer if the next week had to be skipped because it was going to be too scary. I lost interest after my Freshman year in college and only made it through a few Dogget episodes before I gave up.
1. Sleepless Then no particular order, The Field Where I Died, Pusher, Musings of a Cigarette Man, and of Jose Chung's.
The Doggett/Reyes episodes get a bad rap, and while many of the eps are terrible, the ones without any Mulder/Scully in them are pretty decent. 4-D is fantastic
X-Cops has always stuck out to me so I'd say that's my fav. I also love the genie one with Will Sasso. Ah I'm terrible with episode names. I also always remember the one with the clone girls that are killing people.
I'm impressed that my Google search for "X-Files episode with the guy who was maybe psychic and predicted his death" turned up the name of the episode I was thinking of, which was "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose."
I liked the one where they were stuck in Alaska or the Arctic and the spores kept taking over everyone's body. Also, Bad Blood is of course, hilarious.
"He had big buck teeth?" "He had a slight overbite." "And the relevance?" "I'm *just* trying to be through."
Then there was the one with the liver eater who was also Percy Wetmore in Green Mile.
And once they started going into the Scully being kidnapped ones, I was 'shipping a lot. I recall downloading lots of pictures of David Duchovny and making a screensaver. when I was in college.
Tooms! That guy is such a train wreck in real life.
Darkness Falls. I slept with light on the first time I saw that episode as a teen.
That was the first episode I ever saw! I had thought X-Files was one of those pseudo-documentary-tales-of-the-weird-type things (they had some Dan Akroyd thing like that going on at the same time and I think I confabulated them in my head). We went to visit relatives in Canada and they were like, "This show is great! You have to watch it!" And it was that episode.
