I work across the street from a Sephora smack in the center of downtown that opens onto a park a lot of homeless teenagers hang out in. A lot of the testers are gone and I see a lot of women using testers directly on their faces, even lipgloss.
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime. Mark Twain
This comment about constantly being asked if you need advice is interesting:
"It also tends to drive some of us (PoC) away. After the fourth of fifth time, it gets to the point where all you can think is "let me get out of here before some bitch accuses me of stealing.""
For once I can honestly say I relate, because I've often wondered if I'm being tracked in Sephora when they keep coming at me, asking if I need help. It's an incredibly uncomfortable feeling and more than once I've thought of PoC and what's it must be like to feel this way all the damn time.
Also interesting that she seems pretty confident in the Sephora line of products. I thought they didn't get very good reviews.
She may have convinced me to give a beauty blender a try.
"We are required to wear a certain amount of products and a certain amount of colors." This explains so much.
Interesting that she doesn't have much faith in the high end products and finds them very hit or miss.

I was surprised by the comments from the Sephora line too. It really never occurs to me to buy any of it since I just consider it all a knock off of a great product. This week I almost bought two of the creme shadow bases since it really amps up the way my shadow looks.
I should try more Sephora products- I have a liquid lipstick from them that I love.
I thought beauty blender was just a stupid sponge but I got one recently and it's a life changer. Even with my wimpy little tinted moisturizer. So worth the money for me.
