I always want to do an AMA but by the time I have had a couple drinks on a Friday night it's like 1 AM on the east coast and nobody is here. #WestCoastProblems
YES and I'm sorry I no longer live in Chicago! I did from 2003-2007 but that was as many winters as I could take. RIP awesome apartment on State and Grand, I miss you so.

And I think the winters have gotten worse since then!

I lived at State and Grand from 2004-2007. I wonder if we crossed paths.
You can try me, but since this isn't an AMA I reserve the right to refuse to answer.
Do you regret going to law school? What is one thing you would change about your H/your marriage? Are you going to try for a 3rd? Who do you dislike on the boards?
No, because it got me to my job that I have now. While I'm not a practicing lawyer, having a legal education is a plus. I do hate the debt though but woo for PSLF.
My H is terrible at comforting me when I'm sad or upset. Like, his solution to me venting is saying, "well, stop feeling that way." He's so incredibly logical and I'm kind of a hot mess of feelings most of the time--we usually balance each other well but sometimes I need you just say "that sucks, I'm sorry."
We are undecided on a third. We have decided to table the discussion until C is in kindergarten and my ILs have moved up here.
@supergreen's husband. Although I'm glad he seems to be stepping up lately.

jenny1980 thank you. That is a great compliment. I don't know that I actually have any tips but I will tell you what I have tried to do to streamline and make room for everything.
A LOT of it I do owe to my husband. He has made it a priority to be home from work by a certain time two nights a week so I can go to yoga. I also go to yoga at least once and usually twice on the weekends. He is great about splitting household duties and taking care of the kids if I want a girls' night out. He doesn't like to go out that much himself, which I would say works in my favor, but it's what he likes too. He enjoys when I am out and he can play video games solo. Often on weekends he will take the kids on an outing and give me a couple of hours to myself and I get a lot done then, too.
My work is all freelance and very part time, so I do have some flexibility with my time while DD2 is napping (or supposed to be napping) depending on how busy work is.
Beyond that, I am pretty ruthless about trying to only do things I want to do and saying no to other stuff. I have cut a lot of stuff out of my life. I joke about being ignorant about pop culture but it's because I don't watch TV, or if I do it is one Parks & Rec episode or something on Netflix while H and I eat dinner. I don't keep up with current TV at all. I post on FB and Instagram but I don't spend a lot of time reading other peoples' posts or communicating that way. I don't actually spend much time randomly surfing the internet aside from this site (and I mostly GBCN when DD2 is occupied with something else). I wake up an hour before the kids in the morning to meditate and practice piano, get DD1 off to school, run errands and play with DD2 while she is awake, work or try to do something I enjoy while she naps, then active with the kids all afternoon, yoga or family dinner depending on the night, and time to read or pursue another hobby when the kids are in bed.
I feel like this is not a very helpful answer but I think the main thing I have done is make a list of all the things I want to do in their order of importance, then write up the list of things I generally HAVE to do (and when) every day, and then figure out where I can pull a little time here and there, or ask my husband where he has some flexibility so I can fit in things like my yoga class. Finally, I am just pretty good at catching myself in time-wasting habits and asking myself if there is something better I could be doing. Usually there is
This makes me sound like a super structured time nazi. lol. But I hope it helps!
July, people!! Looks like the 24th is when we hit so cal. I am soooooo up for drinks!
Woot, we don't leave until the following week! Let me know if you are up for anything on the 25th or 26th. I'm happy to go down to disney or the OC area. It's my stomping ground. I'm there almost weekly.
Yaaaayyyyyyyy!
I'm going to have to do some finagling, though--the 25th I am seeing Phish and the 26th is my DD1's birthday.
But hell, she'll be ok if I go out for drinks her birthday night, right?
