Both H and I are into gamming. Albiet since our daughter was born it's a bit less (with pleasure of course). I'm also a photographer and so really require a good workhorse of a computer / laptop, that could handle the programs / games I'd run.
I've been eyeing some laptops to just suffice for my photoshop needs as my current laptop is on it's way out and has a bunch of screen resolution issues (not good when you need to edit photos).
Anyways sorry about the long spiel. H came through in a huge way for my birthday. So much so he couldn't wait until my birthday to give it to me. This beast, that I've now named Beastie () was waiting for me on Wednesday on our kitchen table. I was absolutely shocked and unexpected! I knew if anyone would appreciate this big guy it'd be this group.
I'm tempted to do a new playthrough of all the Mass Effects, add my Star Wars: The Old Republic (does anyone on here play this?), Sims 3 (may get Sims 4) just to see how the gaming environment is. It handles PS, LR and Bridge all at once without so much as a peep from the fans. H did really well with this surprise gift.
Man, beast is right! That looks like a beefy, beefy laptop, lol. I used to have a big 17" like that It's nice that it's portable, but "laptop" wasn't really the right word, since it was bigger than my lap!

Ohh, that is sweet! I've been wanting to build a good gaming rig, but will wait until later when I can sort of justify it. I don't play games nearly as much as I used to.

Haha yea, this thing weighs a bit. As you said isn't very portable and I now have to get a new bag for it (Not complaining though ) I love the back lit keyboard and it boots up in just 3 seconds (thanks to SSD). Windows 8.1 is taking some getting used to though. But being able to play Star wars : Old Republic on maxed high settings without so much as a stutter is amazing.
H did a good job with this. Although he gets to reep the benefits as he's gone on it to play his FPS a few times.

I hope you're able to get what you've been hoping for. I didn't realize how much gaming was a release for me until I was able to get on for an hour and just relax. So FX that perhaps in a bit you can get that computer.
I have a built rig from a few years ago. It's rather beefy as well but I was shocked at the type of computer you can build when doing it yourself and the amount of good quality parts you can put in by diy. I hadn't built a computer until I met my husband. Since building my first I'm convinced when it comes to desktops it's the only way to go for affordability (We love Newegg) and quality of a system you can create.
