For fun, I am buying the WnW Poster Child tomorrow. It's like 5 bucks and gets fabulous reviews. You're probably not ready for the Electric Palette yet, lol.
I also just bought my first Colourpops including the sea foam green one and its darker companion from the new spring line BECAUSE.
If you have a a Nyx Milk or Yogurt, try this: put it all over the lid. Then pat the green, blue, or pink from In the Garden (or SemiSweet?) in the outer corner a lot. Then pat less of it in the middle for a gradient. Blend. Pop of color! And a soft introduction to bringing color in.
This works with the gold in ItG or if you have a gentle silver like Mac Rondelle.

NewOrleans, NO! Definitely not ready for the Electric Palette yet, LOL. But thanks for the suggestion And thanks, heyjude. I think there is some purple in at least one of my palettes.

If you want even less of a commitment, there's a $3 WnW palette that has a lot of fun colors, great for using with some of the neutrals you already have:
One suggestion from a former chromophobe: wear a top that matches or comes close to matching whatever makeup you are trying. Ordinarily I don't like matchy-matchy, and I prefer to do complementary colors instead, but if you are wearing a corresponding color on your body, the color on your face seems much less "what the hell were you thinking."
Yesterday I wore a fuchsia top and fuchsia (!!) eye shadow. It looked surprisingly good. Actually, it looked really fun.

Use one bold color with a couple of neutrals. I have both those palettes voodoo and mominatrix mentioned. Their fun, decent and a small financial investment. But you have some colors in the palettes you already have. Color doesn't have to be bold. Also, if you're going to go more color with your eyes, stick with softer blush and lips. That will help with getting used to colorful eye shadow.

I generally use bright color shadows in a couple of ways. A really subtle way is to apply it wet to your lower last line as a liner. It's going to be a wider line than you would do with a liner, but it won't look too heavy because it's color!
Another subtle but eye-catching way is to just use color in your outer v. Neutrals everywhere else, but a little pop on the outside. Then as you get more comfortable, you can add more and more color until you just can't help doing the whole lid.

I think purple is also easy to work with and doesn't scream HELLO LOOK AT MY FACE STRANGERS. Also use a good transition color and blend, that helps it feel not so heavy.

I agree! Purple is the only color I'm not afraid to use, but that's probably because I only have purples from a Tarte set and they are really subtle [crappy]. lol
I'm waiting for this to arrive so I can step it up though (Smashbox trio in Vignette):

redheadbaker another method: use a color, then pat something pale and sheer over it.
Today I used the orange Maybelline Color Tattoo (which is not great) and then put Stila Kitten over it. The result was a bee-yoo-tiful peach. I used Mac Pure Zen on my lips with Kitten gloss over it.
