If you use an oil-based makeup remover, talk me through what you do. Do you apply it using something, like a cotton ball? Do you wash your entire face?
I put like 10 drops in the palm of my hand, then use my fingers to rub all over my face. Use a cotton square to wipe it all off and get around my eyes. I don't wash if I'm doing this right before bed. I use a blend of sunflower, rose hip, and pomegranate oil.

I bought about 10 wash clothes (£1 each). I put the coconut oil on my face, then wet the wash cloth & use that. I only use it once or twice before washing each wash cloth. I use a cotton ball for wiping off my eye makeup.

This is a great idea. I think I'll have to do that. I haven't used wash cloths in ages!
I gently massage it all over, including my eyes, and let it sit for a minute or two to let it loosen everything up. It makes it much easier to remove. I usually just do something else while I wait, like brush my teeth. Then I wet cotton squares or a soft cloth to remove it. I make sure I get everything off of my eyes, take a quick wipe around the rest of my face, then use a regular cleanser and finish with the rest of my routine.
There are also oil-cleansers that emulsify with water so you don't need to follow up with another cleanser, but I haven't tried one yet. I'm not sure how well they work with eye makeup.
Thanks! Apparently I now need to read up on cleansers too...
I suggest looking for something that's pretty gentle. You don't want your skin to feel really tight or dry after you cleanse. Personally, I try to avoid ones that lather a lot since they tend to be more drying for me. CeraVe Foaming seems alright for me as far as foaming ones go, but my favorite is CeraVe Hydrating. Cetaphil and Pond's Cold Cream are some other popular gentle cleansers. I'm know there are lots more, but those are the ones I've tried that I've liked.
I use Shu Uemura cleansing oil to remove face makeup. (I use eye makeup remover first.) Basically a couple of pumps, massage it into skin, and rinse off. I do still wash my face with a regular cleanser afterwards.
