I've seen so many tutorials about makeup contouring and highlighting, but I've never really done it. When they show before and after the difference is amazing, but I feel like it would never blend for me and look natural in any way. I will highlight under my brows etc, but that's my limit. Do you use this technique?

I do a little bit, after watching pixy0stix's video. Not every day, but more often as I get more comfortable with it.
I use a bit at my temples and cheeks, and I may or may not also use some highlighter down my nose/cupid's bow/chin. I can't seem to figure out how to do the shading on the sides of my nose without looking ridiculous, so I skip that unless I don't plan to leave the house, lol.
The first time I tried it, it seemed like a ton of extra pigmentation that I wasn't used to seeing on my face. Like most things, though, I think if you practice, use the right shades and a light hand and blend well, you can get a nice look that isn't overdone. Whether it's worth it to put the effort in ... eh. I can take it or leave it, but it's another thing to play with and that can be fun.

Every day. I use Benefit High Beam, which I adore. I just brush it (it's a thick liquid with a nail polish-like applicator) in the middle of my forehead, down the middle of my nose, and underneath my under eye area (above my blush). I just blend it in quickly with my fingers.
Most days, but not all, I also use Benefit Hoola as a bronzer -- at my tempels (I think I'm misspelling that?), along my jaw line, and on the sides of my nose. I have to blend it very well with a brush so I don't get a line.
I will if I can find a contour that doesn't look like I have dirt on my face. I'm thinking of getting those dark concealer sticks and see if that works. I really need some contouring. My face looks like a round puffy burger bun.
I do for special occasions. I use Becca liquid bronzer and highlighter sometimes, which I feel like work well for me. I've also had good luck with Bobbi Brown Cement eyeshadow. It's a matte gray/brown and looks subtle on me, even though I'm pretty pale.

Kinda? Maybe? I use Bare Minerals warmth really lightly in like a "3" and backwards "3" pattern. I don't know if that counts as bronzer, contouring or craziness.
I do. On days I'm feeling really fancy, I use the NYX Wonder Stick. It blends really nicely. With the highlighter side I do an inverted triangle under each eye, a swipe down my nose, three whooshes I guess you'd call them in the forehead and little dabs above the outer brow and above my mouth. With the contour side, I do under my cheekbones and some times a bit around my hairline. Then I blend it all out, finish with blush and call it good.
I also use NYX's wonder pencil just under my brows. IDK if that's considered contouring though. It does highlight my browbone though so I guess it is.

I don't contour like most people think when you say "contouring". I do a light, simple version. I have a highlighter stick, and a bronzer I like that I combine to give me some good shadowing and definition.
I recently purchased, but haven't received a couple of contouring products. One is a contouring stick/highlighting duo and the other is a powder. I am planning to wear it on days I wear makeup, which is not everyday. We'll see though how they actually look color wise on me.
It comes in different colors. I have deep and I'm a couple shades browner than @smorriso. So the lightest shade may work for you.
Oh, I will totally buy this. Is the stick matte? Any shimmer? I'm about NW42 (I think). Which shade do you recommend? Medium, deep or universal?
Both sides are matte. The highlighter side has slight flecks of something. I hesitate to call it shimmer and it's definitely not glitter. I only notice it when I first swipe it on and have my face all up in the mirror because I'm blending without wearing my glasses lol. So maybe it's the formula and then it blends all out. It doesn't add shimmer to your face though, only light. I put shimmer on with other products.
If by NW42 you mean Mac foundation, I'd definitely go with deep.

Not in the way that most contouring tutorials do it, no. I've tried it and I didn't like the look on me.
I do use a highlight on the bridge of my nose, browbones, and tops of my cheekbones for some "glow" though. I use bronzer in the summer because my face doesn't tan under the strong sunscreen I wear, but I dust it on the places that the sun would naturally hit my face: apples of my cheeks, temples, nose.
