All of ours closed years ago when Netflix and Red Box got really popular, but I drove through a neighboring town and saw a coming soon sign for a Family Video and thought what year is this? I can't imagine it's going to be in business very long.

We have a couple Family Videos here. I never go there to rent movies, but they recently got Marco Pizzas within them, and that pizza is actually really good.
Yes, there is still a Family Video in our town. It has a Little Caesars incorporated in the store, and I think they do fairly well. I say 'I think' because I haven't been there for over 3 years, though.

We have one in our local grocery store/gas station. There is not a redbox within 5 miles and their prices are competitive to redbox. Once you hit that 5 mile mark there are 5 redox locations within a few blocks of each other. I am assuming our local place is keeping redox at bay.
The last Blockbuster in my area just closed this past winter. I'm sure they weren't making any money but they stayed open long enough to sell everything they could.

The last Blockbuster around me closed 2-3 years ago. Maybe more. I was surprised one day to drive by and it wasn't there. The location nearest to me where a Blockbuster once was is now a Movie Stop. I'm not sure if they rent anything.

We have a Family Video. I actually rented a movie there last night because our regular Redbox kiosks were out of the movie we wanted and the video store was just across the street. I'm always surprised how many people are in there when I go. I also noticed that there were no copies of Into the Woods, and they had a ton of spaces for it, so I guess they get a fair amount of business. I'm surprised, though.

There's an independent video store up the street from our house. I haven't been in there in probably 10 years. DH and I always say it must be a front for a drug operation or something. The blockbuster and Hollywood video went out of business years ago.

An old friend/ex of mine and another friend run a very successful one in NYC. Their thing is they deliver the videos to you on the Upper East Side. They also sell candy, popcorn & snacks. You order online, and a guy comes to your apartment within an hour.

DD is an assistant manager at Family Video. We have several in TN. Her's is near her college and is surprisingly always busy. She loves her job, and makes really good for a college job. It's perfect for her, she is a movie buff and knows all there is to know about current and old stuff.
