Hey ladies. I have a Nathan 24 oz. hard plastic water bottle with a straw (here). I have had it a while (not going to say how long) and the straw part is looking bad. Is there a good way to clean it? How often do you replace your water bottles? I use this one everyday usually 2-3 times a day. I typically put half of a Nuun's tablet in there when I use it. I have another one that is 16 oz. that I use when I add lemon to my water bottle (don't want to cross contaminate my lemon with my watermelon flavor).
I fully admit that I'm gross, but I only replace if I lose or break them. I use my water bottle daily android only wash it like once a week, so you probably don't want to listen to me

DH got me this water bottle for my birthday 2.5 years ago. I literally use it every day. It is the best water bottle. It keeps my water cold forever. I love it. When it breaks, I will get a new one just like it.
Mine last pretty long, we just tossed a few from circa 2004 when they cracked in our freezer (we often freeze water bottles, they rarely break). I run mine through the dishwasher, bottle on the bottom shelf, lids and straws on the top, and that keeps then clean enough that I'm not concerned about them.

I keep my bottles until they break. I have a small straw cleaner that I use to clean them. It's intended for baby bottles and sippy cups for kids, but it works great on any kind of straw.
I buy a replacement top for my camelback podium water bottle about once a year. It is around $5. I don 't think we've ever replaced the flip top ones. DS and DD both use them.
I have a camelbak bottle that's similar and I run the parts through the dishwasher and have had good luck getting it clean. I used a pipe cleaner once when it got a little gunky and it worked great. I've had it for years and not replaced it.I use nuun or mio in my water and have had no problem.
Thanks ladies. I have a bottle brush I use on my bottle. I boiled it with vinegar and it got the straw clean but I think I either put too much vinegar in there or left it boiling for too long. The top is discolored and a little gritty. We'll see if I can fix it. Thanks for the tips.

I have a flip top that I wash every couple days (in the dishwasher) and I replace it when I leave it somewhere so I replace it more often than you would think I don't like water bottles with straws.
