If your parents/family gave you birthday parties, what was your best/favorite?
My favorite was in 6th or 7th grade (so 12-13 maybe?). I was supposed to have a party at the local water park with about 6 or 7 girlfriends. It started pouring on the way there. My parents frantically tried to come up with a back up as I had a tween freak out. We ended up going to the plaza with the local movie theater. My parents paid for a bunch of pizzas and gave us money to all go to a movie and get snacks. It was the first time most of us had gotten to eat in a restaurant and go to a movie "alone", and was so fun. I'm pretty sure my parents hung out in the plaza somewhere but we felt so grown up. Oh yeah, and my big gift was a beeper! Ha!
My favorite party was when I turned nine. It was the first time I had both boys and girls over, and there were about ten kids, which felt like a lot to me. Since it was the middle of summer, we played baseball with the new bat and ball I got as a gift. It was a big hit because the bat had a meter that went from 0-100 and showed how hard you hit the ball. My sister basically "ran" the party because she was 15 at the time, and I felt special because I had the "cool" older sister. I also got a huge cake that I loved.
My 16th! Dad surprised me with a car at school before the party. We had a dance party that Friday night with lots of music and friends. The house was crammed with teenagers. My closest friends stayed to spend the night and watch "Sixteen Candles" with me. It was epic.

My favorites were the ones with ice cream cake, lol
I don't have a specific one that stands out. I do remember in 4th grade we had a party at the house and 2 of the girls who lived on my block came over and their mom carried in the present...it was big and she said it was heavy so she's just carry it over to the table and put it down. Well when it came time to open it, it actually wasn't heavy at all - it was a NKOTB pillow She totally psyched me out. It was well played.
HoneySpider- I'm going to go against the grain here but ice cream cake. Gross!
My favorite parties when I was young were probably my 12-14. Each year I got to choose 1 friend and go to a local junior hockey game. I was obsessed with them and tickets were expensive so I was only allowed one friend. When we went my parents went all out and we were allowed some spending money to buy over priced food and drinks. Then we had a sleepover afterwards. Amazing!
So defiantly not your average party but still the best!
O ya and for some reason it took my parents until my 16th birthday to realize that I don't like ice cream cake. (Because I was a twin it wasn't noticed as much that the birthday girl didn't eat her cake, I only ever ate the frosting and a small amount of the vanilla ice cream.) On my 16th birthday my dad bought me a Black Forest cake and I was in heaven!
Let me see... I don't remember most of my birthday parties, and usually, there was something that made me sad. *When I was 9, my birthday actually fell on Easter, so it included a pretty dress, church, egg hunt, chocolate, presents and cake. But I didn't have my mom there (this was the first birthday after their divorce). Instead, dad's girlfriend was there with her little boy, and he puked because he ate too many boiled eggs. *My 10th? birthday was at a roller skating rink with my mom and a bunch of friends. Mom planned this one. I did cry for some reason, but can't remember what. I think something about I couldn't go skate for some reason, or they wanted me to skate alone (all the birthday kids on the rink) and I was too shy. Probably one of those. *When I was 12, we had a big family party that again, coincided with Easter. Except I had a stomach bug that whole weekend. So the first half of the party, I was in bed, feeling miserable. Apparently, some Tylenol and pepto-bismol fixed me right up.
Hell, even last year, on my 30th birthday at the freaking Magic Kingdom, I cried because DH pissed me off. He kept changing his mind about which ride he wanted on so we missed our fast pass slots and the lines ended up over an hour wait. We never did ride either ride that he was waffling between.
This year, DH is on a business trip to the gulf coast of Florida on my birthday. So I picked up an extra shift for work.

Ugh pooh8402 - Any chance you can plan something with friends this year while DH is out of town?
Also, my bday sometimes landed on Easter for the second time last year. I've never been a huge fan of that because people are with their families and don't want to celebrate with me.

Nah, and I don't really want to. I'll just mope. With some non alcoholic beer.

My mom used to have crafts for us to do when I was little.. I remember once decorating tote bags and another time we made wooden plaques with our names on them. We also have gone bowling and to local places that are similar to Chuck E Cheese. Not sure what my favorite is, I had a lot of fun ones! I remember my neighbor's party more than my own though - for her first birthday, her parents got a pony for us all to ride. I was 5. She was ONE! Haha. She was a bit spoiled
I have lots of memorable birthday parties but I think maybe when I was 7 we went to this winter farm and took a horse drawn sleigh ride with hot cocoa and then went back to my house to have the rest of the party.
My Hawaiian themed party when I was 12 was awesome. We made hula skirts, stamped calendars, played lots of themed games!
When I was 14 my mom planned a whole scavenger hunt around our neighborhood and a few stores by my house for all my friends and I!
16: my one good friend and I tried on prom dresses at a local shop and then had a girls night
