I would really like to start wearing my hair naturally wavy, and washing every other day. I wash at night to save time in the morning. Usually, I'll wash at night, air dry while I'm sleeping, straighten the next morning, then use some dry shampoo to freshen up the second morning. I use Lush Big shampoo, which I love, and I've been using Yes to Carrots conditioner, which is just ok. And then whatever random dry shampoo sample I have.
If I go natural, I wash at night, air dry at night, then use Not Your Mother's texturizing sea salt spray, which gives the waves/curls more definition. The problem is the second day- sleeping on my hair the second night straightens it a little more, and the sea salt spray doesn't add enough waves/curls.
I'd really like to be able to get a second day out of my wavy hair. Any suggestions?
Sea salt spray can dry out your hair, so I'd skip it. Do you shower every night? I've started co washing on alternate days, though I shower in the morning, rather than at night, and my waves are coming out more. In the summer I'll start showering at night. Try a good leave in on the second morning? The added moisture should help the curls reform.

See, I find that the less product I put in my hair, the better the no-washing thing goes for me, and the better my waves get.
If I want my waves to behave well in the morning, I take a shower but don't wet it. There's enough moisture in the air in the shower that it defrizzes my hair enough to be socially acceptable.
Sometimes spraying water on my second-day hair restores the waves. I haven't really perfected it yet but I know what you mean.
Maybe spraying with some water and braiding it would help it last another day without flattening.
Exactly this. I just spray with water which seems to refresh the product. Also, if you go with braiding at night I'd do a very loose one or else your wave pattern afterward might just be post-braid rather than your natural one.
I always wear my hair wavy - I also use that sea salt spray occasionally - and depending on how much I played with it the day before and how I slept, it's definitely flatter the next day. But I'm ok with that - it still has a fair amount of body and is just more of a body wave than it's usual loose curl pattern. I tell myself I look like a pantene commercial and just run with it.
Oh yeah, that's TOTALLY MY HAIR! (psst...it's not. But whatever)
But I do usually spritz with some water in the AM on day 2 which at least helps it gather itself together and stop having bedhead. 9 times out of 10 if I get a compliment on my hair, it's usually day 2, so I figure this is working and I shouldn't futz with it.
