ok....I need serious help. I'll be 35 & I think it's time I finallly took better care of my skin. So my birthday present is going to be to buy all new....uh, whatever I need!?!?
I don't wear make up daily... maybe 2-3 times per month +/- 2! When I do it is just, under eye concealer, powder, blush, mascara and some lip gloss. If I'm feeling really fancy I'll go for eye shadow. I don't have any type of daily routine to wash, moisture, or sunblock but I know I should.
Where should I Start? I was doing the Clique thing for a few years & then would just walk into Sephora and take whatever the salesperson sold me. I've got some Dior mascara that I like, some Mars (nars?? lol I have no clue) blush.
What do you suggest for daily wash, moisture? Any under eye miracle creams? I always, no matter how much sleep I get, have purple bags under my eyes. I need something simple & somebody to help me.

I'm pretty low key when it comes to skin care, but I LOVE Cerave. I've had a couple of dermatologists recommend the line to me. I use the face lotions (am and pm) and the body cream and lotion, and I know someone on here loves their foaming facial cleanser. They also sell eye cream, and while I haven't tried it, my guess is it's decent. I love the AM Face Lotion because it has spf 30.
I mean, if you want to go whole hog and jump to super pricey Sephora/department store stuff, do it. But I just can't stomach spending that much on lotions and stuff, so I stick to drug store brands.
The Yes to Blueberries eye cream gets a lot of love on here too.
As for routines, I wash my face (I've used Purpose foaming cleanser since college) then slather on the Cerave AM Lotion. Even if I don't apply makeup. At night, I wash my face then use Cerave PM lotion, then (if I'm not feeling lazy) I'll use eye cream.
An exfoliator is a good thing to add it, also. I'm a big fan of the St. Ives ones, like this or this. They say they are all natural ingredients, so I hope I'm not contributing to some plastic microbead environmental disaster by using them. I also have the St. Ives pads that are a chemical exfoliator.
Are you interested in finding makeup you like and feel comfortable in? If so, playing around in Sephora can be a great start. You can schedule a 45 minute makeover (free if you spend $50) and tell them that you're looking for a low key and easy face.
What products do you feel comfortable applying? I think an easy foundation, concealer, and blush would be a great start. Then you can add eye makeup as you want. I am a huge fan of powder foundations for easy of use -- I love MAC Studio Fix powder foundation. It comes in a compact and looks just like powder, but it has decent coverage. It's not at Sephora, though. There are a couple concealer threads on the front page of this board -- check them out if you want a new rec!
For cleaner, I use philosophy's purity in PM (b/c it takes off my makeup super well) and Ole Hendricksen's african red tea foaming wash b in the AM (b/c it helps me wake up & doesn't dry out my skin). I have oily-ish skin so I only use moisturizer in the winter & this winter I used OH sheer transformation.
I also really like Ole Hendricksen's truth serum & night treatment. And I really love his walnut scrub! You can get the truth serum, night treatment & sheer transformation moisturizer in a sample variety pack at Sephora. I've been using sample sizes since late November & I'm just not scraping the bottom: www.sephora.com/3-little-wonders-mini-collection-P389051?skuId=1552884
I have combination skin and it sucks with every change of the seasons (I am in NY). I get oily in my t-zone, I get dry in places, and I get major blackheads near and on my nose.
I recommend facials and getting a good moisturizer to start.
sorry I missed all these replies. No real budget- I'm splurging on my birthday. I just don't want to buy a bunch of crap i won't use (i.e. eye shadows, etc). ANd yup, I'm preggo again! gah...can't believe it. So i'm sure skin & hormones will be changing.

Cool- i have that scrub but n eed to buy more. How often should I exfoliate? Is that hte same/different than using my clairsonic brush? Yea, I just want to go somewhere & have somebody tell me what to do...
I'll check out that blueberries eye cream. The eye firming or the deep wrinkle night or both???

I don't have a clairisonic, but I use the exfoliating scrub pretty often -- maybe 3 or 4 times a week.
I have the eye firming cream, but I think either would be good :-)
I use the foaming face wash- it cleans well but doesn't leave my skin feeling taut. I use it with a Clarisonic. I also use Retin-A (but you can't), so I'm all good for exfoliation. I don't like gritty mechanical scrubs; my derm recommends against them.
I use the Day and Night lotions. I'm not crazy about the eye cream; it's not as emollient as I like. I'm currently using this stuff which is very nice for the price.
My makeup bag is a mixed bag. Lately I'm using IT compact mineral makeup and concealer with their blush/highlighter/bronzer palette and brow pencil in rotation with Lumene CC cream and clinique loose illuminating powder.
I have a basic Too Faced shadow set and CG Clump Crusher mascara. I like the Clinique or Neutrogena Chubby Sticks for lips.
