I just cashed in some CC reward points for $100 Sephora gc. Hopefully it will get here in time for the sale, but if not, I'll have some guilt-free shopping later on.
My mom complimented my makeup at least twice while I was home for Easter, so I feel like I owe a big THANK YOU to all the MUT pioneers.
Yeah I just found $200 in rewards on my credit card, so I'm ready. PLUS! I only have one more shift (overnight tonight) until I'm on vacation!!! We are going out of town for a few days and I'm hoping all my new makeup shows up in time.
I veered away from my usual BB cushion this morning and used another brand.
tell me about your BB cushions!
I really want to try the Laneige one...
I haven't tried too many, just 4, but I want more! Actually, the one I used this AM is not a cushion, just a BB cream in a compact. (Code Glokolor). You press a button and BB cream pushes out of the compact in a star shape.
My favorite so far has been the Laneige cushion. It has SPF 50, is lightweight, buildable and very easy to apply and reapply throughout the day. I've read that the US version sold at Target is actually called the Pore Control in S. Korea and is for combo/oily skin types.
I've also tried the Etude House cushion and that one was ok, too. Good for oilier skin types and a good range of shades. The Amorepacific one is nice, but pricey, $60! The colors didn't work for me, thankfully. haha
The most popular one, as far as I have seen is the Iope XP. I believe that was the very first cushion released. Amorepacific has the patent for the cushion technology in Korea, so all of the companies under them (Laneige, Etude House, Sulwhasoo, Innisfree and others) have their own cushion compact at various price points. Some of the cushions come with a refill, so that is nice. I want to get one from the brand, Hera soon. I've read that the Iope is more for dry skin types, so that is most likely not for me.
FWIW, if you are sensitive to fragrance, most of the cushions I've tried are fragranced. It's usually a very light, pleasant scent, and goes away after a minute or so. IIRC, you use Laneige skincare, so you're familiar with the scent issue.
The best thing about the cushions is the finish! It provides light to medium coverage but it gives a glow to the skin that I love. It gives a dewy finish, but you can tone it down with a light dusting of powder if it's too much shine/glow. It also has a cooling effect when you apply it, which is a fun little bonus, I guess. They all provide different levels of hydration, too, depending on which brand you buy. The puff is antibacterial, so I've read that you don't need to wash it, but I wash mine once a week using the solid Beautyblender bar and it cleans nicely. With daily use, a single cushion will last 3-4 mos, IME. The Laneige comes with a refill, so for $34 and about 6-8 mos of product, that's not bad.
The tricky thing with cushion shopping is finding the right shade. They have lots of shades for PPPs to medium skin types, but not much for anyone darker. The Amorepacific cushion sold at Sephora actually has a small range of darker tones. Also, Lancome will release their own cushion compact soon in the US. It was introduced in Europe last month or so and I've seen it reviewed on UK blogs. The Asian product beauty bloggers who have tried it say it's not as good as the Korean ones, but I haven't seen it in person yet.
I saw Laneige now has a cushion concealer at Target, so I'm excited to get that. In Asia, they have a cushion blush and that also looks really pretty with a nice finish. I hope they release it in the US soon. Sorry this is so long, I love talking about these and Asian beauty products in general.
I'm visiting my sister for two nights this weekend and this is all the makeup and skin care I feel like hauling. I'm not sure I'll have enough options.
So my blush and eyeshadow from yesterday's FOTD lasted from early afternoon all the way through my night shift with just a bit of fading. I'm impressed.
There are 2 drugstores close to my office and the makeup selection at both sucks. The Walgreens got rid of WnW! I suppose I should be grateful since it keeps me from blowing even more money on makeup.
IIOY, your new avatar keeps throwing me for a loop.
I knew people would be mad at me for it! LOL
I had an embarrassing amount of fun playing around with all the silly avatar options the other day. Some of the ones I had before settling on this one were doozies.

You and Mrsbecky have the same hat so I actually have to read the name to figure out who is posting. Why must you make me think?!
I started storing my eye treatment products in the fridge recently, because I read it will help depuff. I think it's actually working. Just a little bit, though. But, it's still something!
I have Ole Henrikson overnight eye gel, Sunday Riley start over eye cream and First Aid Beauty eye duty triple remedy in the fridge now. I also keep my Vit C serum in there, too.

My Ulta sale order arrived and because I hoarded points till I got to 2000. I got this all for free.
You win the game of life!
I'm have a great knack for getting discounts. And a large amount of my points are thanks to making a few large orders for friends overseas just before Christmas. They save money and I get the points. Haha
I've decided that I don't really like the naked palettes. No matter what shades I use, they give me the same look. I just need three colors for that, not a whole palette

It took me a while to come around on n3, and after watching enough tutorials and practice, I figured out how to use it in more ways. I'm not sure, knowing what I know now, that I would pay $54 for it. I will say that the other makers just aren't as appealing to me because I have a hard time figuring out how to not end up with a glittery metallic eye. I love shimmer, but I still want a mix of finishes.
I think the Balm's Nude Tude is an excellent, versatile neutral palette. My only complaint is that I wish the pale yellowy shimmer leaned more gold than true yellow. That yellow shade is awful.
