Nintendo Wii-U

I just ordered one and will be receiving it on Wednesday .  My H had been going back and forth about whether he wanted one or not, but I decided to just go ahead and get it for our birthdays coming up, since I had giftcards.

Anyway, I got the bundle with Super Mario World 3-D, and also Mario Kart 8.  Since we have a Wii, we already have 4 Wii remotes and other accessories.  I expect we'll enjoy Mario Kart, but is the other game any good?  Is the gamepad fun/easy to use?  Does anyone have any game recs for me?  We liked Wii games such as New Super Mario Bros, Monster Hunter, Boom Blox, Fortune Street, and some other party games.  I was worried that the Wii-U game library doesn't have a lot of options.

My sister has it and I played mario party and other stuff on it, it was pretty easy to use, not too big or anything.

But Zelda, Mario Party, Super Smash Brothers are the other games I would recommend to your list

I'm just a lurker, but pikmin 3 is an awesome game. The graphics are stunning, and you get a little army of flower-head things.

Super Smash Bros for the Wii U is a lot of fun. We also have Rayman Legends and Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze as our non-Mario platformers. You'll get used to the game pad pretty quickly, but I mostly play with the Wii remote.

But also dangerous if you get into amiibos . Don't talk to me about Jigglypuff right now lol.

I like the Wii U better than the Wii, I like the tablet. The library might be smaller but there are some really good games. All the games mentioned by PP are good. Zelda Hyrule Warriors is fun if you like Dynasty/Samurai Warriors style games.

Thanks for your suggestions. I picked up Super Mario Bros U. For now we'll play the ones we have and then consider others. Super Smash Bros, the Zelda, and Pikmin 3 are at the top of my list. Last night I made a bunch of Miis using the gamepad and it was really fun lol.

Games on rotation at our house are:
Mario bros
Mario kart
Wii fit (the new one has some really fun new activities like squash and rock climbing that we fight for the top spot)
Nintendoland
Mario party 10 is fun. The only draw back is there aren't as many mini games. I like Mario party 8 the best
Just dance.

Bayonetta 2? I don't know I haven't played it but I LOVED the first one. I *almost* bought a wii u just for that game. But buying a game consoles for just 1 game seemed like a bad idea. I'm Praying that it goes multi-platform like the first one did.

Thanks for the rec, I will have to read up on it on Amazon. H needs a game that isn't Mario-themed. He desperately wants Monster Hunter 4, but it's only on the 3DS.

Mariokart 8 is amazing! (except battle mode, it's the worst ever). Besides double dash which holds nostalgic value for us, it's our favourite Mariokart game.
We just bought donkey kong tropical freeze and so far it's great. Beautiful graphics and Cranky is playable!

Is it just me, or is 100CC much harder than 50CC in Mario Kart 8? I found the 50 really easy and thought 100 would be just a little more challenging, but it seems like a huge shift. The other players really gang up on you. If I'm in first place, as soon as one shell hits me then 4 NPCs catch up and I end up in 5th. I find this very frustrating lol.

We bought the Wii U pretty much for Mario Kart 8 lol. We also have Super Smash brothers and 4 amiibos but I haven't quite figured out what they do yet...Mario Kart 8 is pretty much all we play.

We just got 200CC...it's insane!

I didn't know there was a 200CC! Is that downloadable content? I'm scared lol.

I think so?  We paid for some package back in like October or November that gave you 4 new cups, outfits for your Mii and 200CC karts.  We got 2 cups and the outfits back in November and then just recently got the last 2 cups and the 200CC karts...and also a few new characters.
