During the great and epic foundation search of 2014 great mistakes were made, mostly the choice of season. My beloved Nars Sheer Glow, which I thought was my everything, is wonderful in cooler weather when my skin is a touch drier but once the temperature gets around 80 it starts to separate into my pores and almost melts off my face. I've tried different methods, primers, and skincare and I've come to the conclusion that Nars is the problem, not me.
So far I know I'm not crazy about Dior, Smashbox, Marc Jacobs, or Benefit. I liked UD but I fall between shades and everything is too yellow for me. I rashly bought a bottle of Bobbi Brown Skin foundation but the SA matched me to something that looked right int he store but is a million shades too light and makes me look like death in daylight. I think I might try it in a different shade but are there other liquid foundations people recommend? I'm starting to hate the process because the Sephora ladies are slaves to that stupid Pantone machine and it makes the process a million times harder because they will not deviate from the approved "color match" list.
I use Estee Lauder Double Wear Light. No issues with it melting off my face like other foundations do.
I use Perricone No Foundation Foundation as well when I just want something light. Double Wear is nice because you can sheer it out or build it up, but Perricone is quick and easy. I use Double Wear when I want a more made up flawless look, but Perricone when I'm just going for "trying to look not tired and blah."

I have the same problem. As soon as the warmer weather appears, the foundation melts away. I've tried all sorts of combinations of primers/bb/cc creams and different foundations.
By far my favorite is the Hourglass. This past week I've been using the UD Naked skin. I also like the Clinique Stay Matte, I'll get back to using that in summer since the shade I have is a bit darker. I also have a Chanel one that's similar to the HG, but I don't like it as much.
Makeup Forever MAT VELVET +. It was a gamechanger for me. Sometimes I forget I have oily skin, until I try to buy a cheaper foundation and then I'm like oh no.
I actually really like my Bobbi Brown foundation. I would try a different color if you liked it otherwise.
I'm fucking picky about how foundation feels on my face. It took me ages to find one that didn't make me want to scrub my face with Lava Soap to get it off me.

This. Except I never forget I have oily skin - it just tends to be less oily when I wear this.
(Or I wear a BB cream. Right now I prefer Too Faced's version.)
Also, today I tried the Wayne Goss method of putting powder all over my face before applying my regular foundation. I am not ready to declare victory after only a single day, but this definitely decreased my shine. I've now had my makeup on for just over 12 hours and it still looks fresh. I haven't taken my makeup off yet because I keep looking in the mirror to marvel at my non-shiny face.
I really want someone with this issue to try to CoverFX foundation drops, and mix with a matte primer and see how they like the results!
WILL DO. Because any foundation I put on my usual normal to dry skin, makes my face oily by noon. I have yet to figure out why the hell that is, and even mixing the drops with my regular moisturizer makes me oily by noon.
Have you tried Becca matte primer? I've had great luck with it. I've had the same issues with many foundations. I've really only found Smashbox and Becca primer does the trick. I'll be excited to see if you like it when you get it! It sounds like a really cool innovative product!

I have tried Becca, but it felt like it sucked all the moisture out of my skin. Was not a fan. However, I bought the cover drops on Saturday, and I used them on Sunday and today. I like the color, it's a good match but I have only mixed it with my regular moisturizer so far. So tomorrow I'm going to try it with one of the FX primers they made me a sample of in Sephora. I think it's the calming one, not sure. I'm going to try it with powder on under it too...I only have MAC Blot powder though so we'll see how that goes.
I've heard good things about the CoverFX matte primer. I don't have any of their products, but I am keen to try some!
I have oily skin and feel like I have tried so many different products. FWIW, I am 36 and live in cold, Upstate NY. This season I have been using Dr. Brandt's Pores no More primer and Maybelline Dream Wonder powder foundation. It is the only thing that kept me from being shiny by noon.

I tried this method on Easter and I was very pleasantly surprised how good my makeup looked at the end of the day.

What do you wear over this? I have a couple mineral powders I use but aren't too happy with them.
I tried the Goss method and the Nars still wiggled around even when I tried it over the Becca primer that turned my face into the Sahara. That was the point when I realized that the problem was with the makeup.
This morning reminded me why I haaaate Sephora with a passion on the weekends. The woman I worked with this morning was much better informed and thinks after looking at my skin that my problem is more that I'm getting oily because I'm dry and need to exfoliate and moisturize more. She laughed at the color I was "matched" to this weekend and suggested that I give the Laura Mercier Flawless Fluide a try since it's better for combination skin like mine. The coverage was good but most importantly it stayed out of my pores without having to do ant crazy makeup stunts. I bought a bottle since it's not something that samples well but after a day running errands and lots of walking outside I'm pretty impressed at how it's held up.

I don't use powder every day, only for special occasions and/or if I know I'm getting my picture taken.
I love the MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural powder. It's a baked mineral powder, it doesn't break me out or make me look too powdery. Love it.
