I had what I thought was a contraction early in the day. Haven't really had anything until today. Then I had my bloody show. I've been timing contractions for the last hour and they're lasting about a minute and are roughly 5 minutes apart. So, basically exactly what my doctor said to let happen before calling. They hurt, but aren't really that bad. I don't want to go to the hospital and be sent away. Did you follow the 5/1/1 rule or wait longer than that?
My water broke so I knew it was a matter of time. I was having contractions 3 min apart but they were 30s to 45s and not that strong. My husband forced me out the door basically (hospital was far away and it was snowing, so he was nervous).
When I got there I was only 2cm but things picked up relatively fast and I had the baby less than 7 hrs later so I'm glad we went.

I never felt the first contraction until I went into labor. No BHs or anything. They were 2 minutes apart or less from the first time I felt one. I stayed home for about 2 hours, until DH demanded we go to the hospital (45min drive). Got to the hospital at 2a, water broke at 215, baby born at 814a.

Good luck. How close is the hospital? Do you want an epi? Are you GBS positive and planning to get antibiotics? Those things would play a factor in how long a waited.

It's worth calling. The women in my family have babies fast. With my first labor started with my water breaking. After contractiona started it was about 4 hours. My 2nd kid was born in 48 minutes.
I'm here. 3cm and 75%. This shit hurts and I feel lame for coming in and not being further along. They're going to recheck me in two hours and go from there.
I went when contractions were 1 minute and 5 minutes apart. We were 45 min from the hospital. I didn't have the baby for another 30 hours. I kinda wished I'd stayed home a little longer.
My contractions never really got close together. I went to the birth center after 24 hours because I felt it had been a while and I thought I was probably far along by then. I got there at 8.5 cm.
I went when contractions felt uncomfortable enough that I didn't want to be stuck in a car for 45mins when they got any worse . they were 4 minutes apart and lasted a minute. Unfortunately when I got there I was only 2cm (as I had been for a week) so they wouldn't admit me. I was told to go for a walk and come back in an hour. Things got really painful during that walk and I was 4cm when we got back.
Glad you went in! I went in around the same "time" as you (5 mins apart, lasting for 1 minute) but my water had broken and my OB told me to go in when all three of those were the case. I was only 1cm when I got there... so you're further along then I was.
Good luck! You are further along than I was when we went to the hospital - both the first time when I was 1cm and got to 2 in 7 hours and they sent me home, and when I came back ~12 hours later and was still 2cm. Baby was born 12 hours after that, but I went from transition to baby in my arms in 2.5 hours.
I work at the hospital I delivered at but had my 39 week OB appointment after working all day where I found out I was 5 cm and 100% effaced so I walked back over to the hospital to be admitted.

My OB said to come in when my contractions were 4 or 5 minutes apart. But my contractions went from sporadic to 2 minutes apart. When I was unable to talk to FI through a contraction, he told me we were going to the hospital.
I left after I had been contracting for three hours and contractions were 5 min. apart. My water hadn't broken, and I had the baby nine hours after arriving at the hospital. (Was 4 cm when I got there.) So I could have waited. But they admitted me and got the ball rolling on the epi. I was glad, because shit started to get pretty painful soon after I arrived.
