I just got an alert on my phone from the NYT that a verdict has been reached and is expected to be announced shortly. Since they just wrapped up arguments this week, it sounds like they didn't take much time to deliberate.
I think its pretty safe to say he'll be found guilty. I'm more interested in the sentencing, although I'm conflicted on whether I think he should be sentenced to death or to life in prison.
I agree with both of this. Massachusetts of course outlawed the death penalty many years ago, so in some ways, it is a little weird to be confronted with a death penalty case in our area.
My understanding is that the jury will deliberate on death vs. prison next.

Very much agree to this.
I am not in favor of the DP but goodness if I ever was.
I am grateful to the jury members who served. I cannot imagine how difficult that experience must have been.
Agreed. And its not over yet. If anything, the more difficult part is still ahead of them as they debate the death penalty and are faced with testimony from the victims about how their lives have been changed post bombing.

John Oliver did a great segment last year on the death penalty (link -it's a bit long, but great). I'm firmly anti-death penalty, and personally, I don't think I could vote for it even in this case (especially since there's a chance it may make him a martyr for his "cause" to some). But if the jury does vote that way, I wouldn't blame them and I certainly won't waste a second feeling badly about it.
He murdered 4 including an 8-year-old boy, maimed 14 who had emergency amputations and injured another 250 people. He personally placed a pressure cooker bomb behind the family of that 8-year-old boy killing him and maiming his 5-year-old sister.
I won't blame the jury for voting for the death penalty.
