Labor started at 10pm on Monday night. We went to the hospital around 1am. I was 2 cm. dilated and 75% effaced. After several more hours and additional checks, I was only 3 cm. at 6am. We went home. Contractions continued to worsen and I did not sleep. We went back to the hospital around 8am and got checked in. I was 4 cm. and 90% effaced. They admitted me and I asked for the epidural right away. Best thing ever! Damn, loved that epidural. I slept off and on, mostly on, after getting it. Contractions were slowing and becoming less intense, so they started pitocin to get things moving. It didn't work all that well and they kept making adjustments to try to get the contractions to become intense enough again. By 12:20am on Tuesday, I had only dilated to about 9 cm. and there was still a fair amount of cervix in the way that they just couldn't get rid of. I ended up having a c-section around 12:30am on Tuesday after nearly 27 hours of labor. DS was born at 1:08 am on April 8th, one day before his due date. He is 8 lbs., 7 oz., and had a 9/9 apgar.
DH and I are beyond smitten. He's been a great little sleeper so far and eats like a champ. We're having some trouble with latching, but once he gets on there, he's good to go. Also, he's damn cute.
