haha, it sucks. I agree with several colace a day and lots of water. If you get really backed up, drink a bottle of magnesium citrate to get things moving.
Drinking lots of water and regular exercise will help. Obviously, eating high fiber foods will also help (whole grains, brown rice, beans, lots of fruit and veggies...). Check with your doctor. Some recommend using a fiber supplement like Metamucil or a stool softener like Colace and some don't. Mine advises against regular use but said it would be ok if I was really desperate.
Colace and lot's of water and fruit helped me. That was obviously easier after the first trimester when the MS went away. If it makes you feel any better my constipation stopped about 2 weeks ago and has gone in the other direction. I'm not sure if this is normal because I don't remember it with my son but I went from 3 times a week to 3 times a day. I also have a ton of braxton hicks so maybe that is what causes it.
If it's more of a regularity issue, either Metamucil or more dietary diversity (fruits, veggies, fiber.) I had a hard time remembering Metamucil, but trying to balance my diet seemed to do the trick.
Thanks ladies - this Colace stuff - is it in pill form? I can't do liquid stuff like milk of mag.
I suspect my prenatal vitamin is coming in to play here - someone (off board) suggested splitting the vitamin in 1/2 and taking part in morning and part in evening. Did anyone do this?

Colace is a capsule. I took colace and milk of mag during both pregnancies with little result. Obviously everyone's different but if you're like me, consider yourself SOL for the next 7 mos.
