I wear both...my work is business casual though. It also depends on the style and height of the heel. Some peep toe or open toed shoes aren't appropriate at my job (they're too night time appropriate).
Everything pretty much goes at our office. There are people in tees and shorts and others in button ups and dress pants. I personally like to err on the dressier side. I do peeps and other open toes all the time.
I will say tho that if I have a meeting offsite, I will do close toed shoes. There's something "private" about seeing people's toes in a professional setting. Just my own personal preference.
Does your office have a dress code? What have you noticed other women wearing?
Last year, I worked as a middle school teacher (super casual) so wearing pumps at all was considered very dressy. However, I think a slight peep toe would be okay, even in a corporate setting. Maybe spend a little time studying others' shoes at work before you take the plunge?

All the time. I work in a conservative corporate setting and I don't think it looks out of place if the finish of the leather is matte or suede. Although black or nude patent is perfectly okay too. Just steer clear of satiny fabric. Also, I think a true peep toe (showing only a tiny bit of toe) as opposed to a more open toe style is preferable.
