Illuminating primer?

Anybody use one?  I'm filling my basket on sephora and I'm looking at color fx illuminating primer.
I tried the loreal illuminating primer and didn't care for it. It's white and pearlescent with a very liquid consistency. Not a fan.  As a regular primer, I used smash box and then switched to the cheap alternative of monistat chafing gel which gives me the same exact results for a fraction of the price. 
But with spring coming, I want to look less...pastey? 
Any recs?  Or dislikes?

I've tried the one from Almay. It's pretty pearlescent but it blends in well enough. It is thick and comes in a tall glass bottle with a pump.

Honestly, have no review if it a good primary enough

I've only tried the LM Radiance Foundation Primer and I wasn't a fan. It looked very sparkly and pearlescent to me.

I have the LM one. It works well in the winter when my skin is dry, in the summer I just look like an oily mess.

I have the MAC Prep+Prime Natural Radiance in pink. I like it. I feel like a million bucks when I wear it, but I'm not 100% that it's the primer and not the fact that it's my fancypants primer I only use with my better foundation, etc.


It has tiny pink glitters in it, which weirded me out at first, but in the end is something I"m pretty ok with...

I use Bare Mineral's brightening foundation primer. It's sort of a light golden shimmery liquid.

I like it. I think it's lighter than the Smashbox or Monistat. But I don't really notice much of a difference in terms of looking "brighter" or not, it's pretty subtle.

I tried the Smashbox version and got nothing from it. I think I even posted about it in one of the original MUTs because I was confused by the fact that it did nothing for me and I wondered what I was missing.

Benefit that gal was ok. I'm not a fan of illuminating primers, I feel like a fairy sneezed on me.
