I think mine said "I will be on leave until early June. Please contact so-and-so for x-related questions, the other guy for y-issues, and weird lady for z."
Most people in my office mention that they are out on maternity leave, and sometimes give a vague estimate of when they will be back - i.e. "in the fall" or "in July." Not a specific date.

We have a few people here out on various leaves. Most say "I am on an extended absence and do not have access to email. During this absence please contact X for assistance in Y. Thank you."
I mentioned I was out on maternity leave and to contact other people the their numbers. And then when I had a clue when I was coming back I signed in during off hours and added I would be back on X date.

I wasn't 100% sure if I was going to take extra vacation time beyond my maternity leave.
I said, "I will be out of the office on maternity leave until May with no access to email." That was close enough. The amount of emails you get will trail off anyway, since people are not really looking for you.
Mine was longer, so different, but it said "I am on maternity leave until january 2015, and will not be taking my voicemails, but will be checking my emails regularly"
I mentioned I was on maternity leave until the month I was going back. I then wrote "please email Jane Doe at xyz@workemail.com for assistance. This hopefully let people know I wasn't going to answer them. I did go through my email the whole time to keep it clean (so I wouldn't be overwhelmed when I came back) and to forward the emails from the people who needed something RIGHT NOW and I was afraid they wouldn't follow my direction.

Someone wrote a coworker's out of office message when she went into labor early and it said "Sally is out because she had her baby!!! Please contact x y or z with any of your needs."
I worked in a college at the time so, lax, but it still cracked me up. She changed it after a bit.
Cville did you really check emails on ML? I didn't until the week before I went back. In a fog, man.

I will be out of the office until X date. I will not have access to my email during this time. Please contact Sally, Jethro and Wanda for any questions you might have (and their contact info.)
"I am out of the office on extended leave without email access. Any messages will be addressed upon my return (estimated X). For timely response, please contact John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt."
This is what I wrote the last time and will do again this time:
This is an Automatic Reply: I will be away from the office on maternity leave commencing ____________________ with an anticipated return of ___________________. Kindly contact my assistant at ______________________ to be directed to the associate with carriage of your matter in my absence.
ETA: My leave will be a year so I mention it as a mat leave because it feels weird not mention it. If my leave was going to be between 6-12 weeks I might just say "leave".

Absolutely. I probably worked 10ish hours each month of leave with O, with coordinating stuff and responding to minor things. More with L because I had a huge motion due in one of my cases the month after she was born. The life of a firm lawyer, le sigh. I did get 12 100% paid weeks, though. I ain't complaining.

My company actually turned off my Outlook completely. They also removed all access to systems and building access from the day I left until the day I returned. It was as if I wasn't even an employee anymore! Ha. I am in finance (compliance specifically).
Funny thing was when they returned my access I had over 25,000 emails download. Fun times!
