This thought brought to you by two recent FB rants.
Why is is that beyond the ingredients! Chemicals! Autism! Argument from anti vaxxers, another big issue is the government deciding what they can and can't do to their bodies.
Yet it's okay for the govt to legislate anti abortion laws? Is that not telling people what they can and can't do to their bodies?
I know the answer to this but it boggles my mind that they don't see the hypocrisy.

I saw a post from someone asking for recs for a pediatrician who is a practicing Catholic so she could be sure he wouldn't use vaccines with aborted baby tissue in them.
People are nuts and they live in their own little nutso land.
That doesn't even make sense? Or I'm not reading their post right?
That being said, I'm very pro-vax. I'm even for the idea Australia has that involves cutting benefits for those who don't vaccinate. (If you opt out of public well being you opt completely out). However, I'm not comfortable at all with the government being able to force vaccinations on people. I see people suggest that a lot and the thought makes me uneasy.
No I agree with that, I'm pro-vax but I dot think the govt should make it mandatory. It should be a choice.
My state is considering a bill which would make vaccines mandatory for all kids to attend school and daycare which is what's promoting a rash of rants.
Because Anti-vaxxers will grab onto any opportunity they can to twist something and try to make it favorable for them. Meanwhile, any reasonably intelligent person knows those two things are not the same.
When people continue to make stupid choices and it becomes a public health issue, I am A OK with the gov't stepping in and "forcing".
But CA Is not forcing. You can still choose not to vax. You just won't be able to send your kid to school. Oh well. Home school.
But people will be forced to vaccinate unless they can afford a nanny or sahp. It includes daycare. Though I don't know if anyone knows yet how they will make sure daycares are complaint.
I've never had a kid in daycare. Is it standard for them to ask for vax records? I wonder if they can currently refuse a kid based on vax status

Yes, they need to report vax status just like a school. is this really a case of "but the poor people!" Because their kids will be safer because of this law.

If they want to be licensed, then yes they do. A dcp can lose his/her license if they don't keep updated records.

I'm not making a care of "but the poor people!" I think people should vaccinate. I don't think the government should tell them they HAVE to. like I said, I didn't know what current requirements for daycares is when it comes to vaccines which is why I asked.
But yes, if someone doesn't want to vax but can't afford a nanny or sahp then i suppose it is "but the poor people!" Because poor people should get to make their own decisions too

I dunno, I dont think anyone should get to make this decision. It should be mandatory for everyone, imo.

They can still send their children to an unlicensed daycare. There are some good quality ones out there. For example, if you only take care of children from one family, you can write off your business expenses and run a legally unlicensed daycare.

I totally understand what you are saying but this is a public health issue. While I don't believe governments should make people get vaccinated I have no issue with public school requiring vaccinations. The only reason not to vaccinate should be medical the end. Rich/Poor I don't care. If you want your kids to be educated make educated choices.

Random factoid: I remember reading somewhere (but too lazy to google though) that the statistics of an Average anti vaxxer is an educated, upper middle class white family. It truly makes me weep for humanity. Team mandatory vax for public school with the exception of medical necessity. A kid should have a right to life more than a mom should be able to not vax because the internet told her so.

Yep I read the same thing. Most anti vaxers are not poor.
Yep the decision not to vaccinate has become a first world hill to die on/problem. I think entitlement leads to lack of concern or care for herd immunity. It's all about MY child and MY choices while ignoring the fact unvax kids pose a risk to those kids with compromised immune systems etc.
There is certainly a sector of society though that doesn't vax due to poverty or lack of access but that's not what I'm talking about.
