I haven't traveled much since upping my makeup game. I have a work trip this week, already have my outfits ready to go and am working on putting together makeup. It's only three days. I'm trying to balance minimal packing with giving myself some options each day.
I bought two mini palettes (Lorac Champagne Dreams and Smashbox mini Full Exposure) with this trip in mind (lol) -- since it's work, I'll be doing mostly-neutral faces. There is one after-hours reception and otherwise no nightlife to speak of, except maybe a workout in the hotel weight room.
I have a bunch of mascara and primer samples that I'll pick a couple from, and bring a black and a brown liner. My biggest debates right now are brushes (I have a mini set, but they're kind of crappy, especially the shadow brushes), blush and lips.
I usually take N3 and Lorac pro for my shadows and I bring everything else I would normally use on a daily basis. I just pick my faves or most versatile, so I don't bring 3 blushes or something. I bring all of my normal brushes. I have a decent sized makeup bag that I always bring and as long as it fits in the bag I am happy.
For my last work trip, which was a week long, I took the Balm's NudeTude and my Hourglass blush palette, plus I think I threw in Cabana Boy, because I like that better than the pink blush in the HG palette.
I was climbing the walls by the end of the week, but it was doable.
ETA - I take all my brushes, and usually a bunch of eyeliners (always black and brown, usually gold, olive, and a fun color). A highlighter or two. Maybe the HG ambient lighting palette. 1-2 mascaras. And assorted lip products in both my makeup bag and my purse.

I travel for work often. I try to balance minimal makeup with options.
I always bring primer, bb cream, foundation, concealer, undereye corrector. One blush, sometimes a highlighter, brown liquid eyeliner, eyebrow stuff. One mascara, and three lipsticks and glosses. sometimes I'll bring my naked basics palette but more often just a Mac paint pot that's nude and call it a day.
i think that's plenty. I'd rather save room in my bag for more clothes options than eyeshadow palettes and eyeliner. I've never wished I had more.
I am not a huge makeup fiend (haven't spent enough time here yet) but I just take my normal makeup bag because it's pretty roomy. Beyond my normal primer/foundation/concealer/etc. my beloved Boudoir Eyes fits nicely so I generally take that, plus the 3-4 blushes in my rotation. I carry no less than 15 lip products in my purse at a time (literally - it's a problem) so I vary my lips more than anything else.
I have that Balm Voyage palette and it's good but HUGE. Not really travel-friendly IMO.
I seriously think it takes me 10x longer to decide on my makeup packing compared to anything else. I'm always looking for that PERFECT bag, or that PERFECT palette, or other easy to use item for travel. And, uh, I don't travel often.
Unlike others, I travel with very little brushes. I generally pack eyeshadow creams/sticks that don't require them. Eyeliner that's almost to the end. A cream blush if my skin is cooperating.
My base usually stays the same, a tinted moisturizer, unless its some sort of work event I feel warrants more.
I always tell myself I'll pack some of my many birchbox makeup samples, but I get nervous about changing up stuff when I need to show up for work .

I need a smaller eye palette that will fit in my makeup bag. I always travel with one of the Chocolate Bars, but I have to pack it in a separate pouch. Travel is when I use up a lot of samples, too. I take everything mini I can find.
I pack my regular primers, foundation and concealer and a tiny Tarte finishing powder in lieu of my big NYX powder. I take 2-3 blushes, my regular eyeliners and mascara. The hardest things is brushes. I take one big complexion brush, one small blush brush, one fluffy eyeshadow brush and one crease brush.

I take my regular brushes, shadow singles for two eye looks, or one work look with a darker fun shadow to make the day look into a night look. One blush, foundation, 3-4 lip products, mascara sample, 2 eye pencils, brow products and my bronzer. I never wished I had more. I try to stick to my favorite shadows and blush. I think that makes it easier to not feel like I don't have enough items. Have a good trip.
I have a set of Sephora travel brushes, it looks like they don't have them any more. I take N2, a duo blush, grey eyeliner since it's pretty diverse, a sample mascara, and 2 lip colors. I keep it pretty simple.

I actually have a second makeup bag I take with me when I travel, so I don't even pull anything out of my makeup drawer. I have a bag of brushes (a combination of MAC travel-sized brushes and a few full-sized brushes), a MAC quad (the kind you customize, so I can swap out shades), MAC foundation, travel-sized Primer Potion, travel-sized Tarte blush, powder, eyeliner, mascara and what I bring lip-color wise just depends on my current mood.
When ever I travel, even if only for a night out with a friend, I take my usuals. Anything that I use on a pretty frequent basis comes. If I have outfits picked out, I'll often pick a palette or two that I think would compliment my outfit. I usually end up taking a Naked palette along incase I change my mind.
