Last night, I ordered a FURminator from Amazon. Checking my order this morning, I notice the 'comb' is only 1.75 inches long. Why would they even make one that small? I tried canceling, but it's too late, and will have to send it back.
So what size is should I buy? I have 2 short hair cats, 12lbs and 19lbs.

Just return it. It ruined my cats coats. It more broke the hair and made them rough. I have great results just using a regular comb on my short hair cats.

I got the 1.75” comb for my 3 cats and it works perfectly. My tabbies are in the 8-12lb range, though. 19lbs sounds like a big cat! It really works to get all of that underfur out. For one of my cats, his top coat is quite wirey and using the comb does make it feel more so, but mostly because it’s taking out the soft fur underneath. My other two cats have all soft textured fur, so it just cleans them up. It’s the only thing that keeps our apartment from turning into one big furball. The amount of fur that comes out is really amazing.
