I recently moved to the area and am looking for recs for an ob/gyn. My husband and I are TTC (1st month!) and I would like to find a doctor before I actually get pregnant. I am in North Cambridge (Alewife) and work downtown (Copley), so ideally close to either of those, but that's not necessary. Bonus points if they specialize in higher-risk pregnancies, as I have epilepsy, but again, not necessary. Thanks!
I've had great luck with the gyns at Harvard Vanguard - there is one office in Copley and another at the Milk Street location. I think many of their OBs deliver at MGH.
Dr. Kolp of MGH is awesome but I'm not sure how often she's in Boston now. I've been heading to Waltham to see her recently.
Another recommendation for Rebecca Kolp. She has offices in Waltham and downtown Boston (Charles T stop). I went to the Waltham office first and liked the front office staff so much that I scheduled almost all my appointments there. She specializes in high risk pregnancies. As a high risk woman, I had a lot of appointments. It is worth driving out to the Waltham office because the front office there is terrific. They remembered me and helped to allay my fears and finesse the schedule to get me in when I had a last minute change. To get to MGH West in Waltham from Alewife, you would head west on Route 2 to 95 South. One exit later, you are at MGH West with free parking. It is about 25 minutes with routine traffic from Alewife. When I was first pregnant, my work project was on Rindge so I was making that drive regularly.
I saw a team of midwives, OB's, and MFM in Arlington and at Mt. Auburn in Cambridge for my last pregnancy with the twins. Multiples are deemed high risk so that's why I also saw the MFM. I absolutely loved them. My main office was Women's health care in Arlington. It's not too far from the Alewife area.
If you are looking for a high risk Dr. I would go with an MFM. I saw Dr. O'Brien most often. She works at both Mt. Auburn and Beth Israel.
I go to Harvard Vanguard in Copley for pretty much everything. I haven't been pregnant (yet) so I can't necessarily recommend her for anything other than her personality and convenient office location, but I like Dr. Maria (Mimi) Fradhino there. The HVMA OBs deliver primarily at Beth Israel & Newton-Wellesley (and a few deliver at a few others). Their high-risk practice is at their Kenmore office, though.
