Hop on off bus - will take you around easily to all the sites and you can get off for a moment when you see something interesting. And do lunch somewhere at the Rue Mouffetard in the Latin Quarter.

Yes, buy a bag! Let me live vicariously through you. Which ones can you get savings for, just the French brands? Unfortunately Chanel just realigned prices worldwide so they are no longer cheaper way cheaper in France.
You could also do a free walking tour. This one is pretty backpackery but it's still an easy way to cover a lot of ground. www.newparistours.com/
Gerard Darel bags are pretty nice. It's very easy to combine shopping with strolling about in Paris. I would probably hit the Bon Marche department store in the 6th arr. and combine that with a quick stop into bread temple "Poilane" on the Rue du Cherche Midi (just about 2 blocks from the Bon Marche) before strolling on to Blvd. St. Germaine and all those little side streets for more shopping. The Jardin de Luxembourg is also walking distance from there. Crossing the Seine by foot is also nice. My favorite bridge to cross is Pont Neuf, but really, any of them will do.
Seconding the hop on/off bus - you really got to see a lot in a short amount of time. I was there for two days last year and thought that was a good way to see the city in a short amount of time. Picnic near the eiffel tower - mainly to smell the French lime blossoms. A stop at laduree and Pierre herme. My biggest regret is not stopping poilane.
I would find a foodie walking tour if it were me - I think David lebovitz had some listed on his site.
