Those of you who have done a FET (or even IVF on the same meds) can you tell me how much the meds cost? In particular, I will be on Lupron, Vivelle patches, and PIO. We are completely OOP for this so I want to be prepared. Thanks!
Have you double checked that you will be completely out of pocket? I ask because our insurance doesn't cover infertility treatment at all, but will cover several of those drugs because they are not primarily for IF. Lupron was covered completely. Vivelle had a $16 copay and needed preapproval for more than 8 patches/month. They still wouldn't cover all the ones I needed but it helped. Progesterone was completely out of pocket and was $35/vial.
If insurance doesn't cover it, Lupron was around $119 and Vivelle was something like $9-10/patch. Call around and break up orders if need be. Vivelle will for sure be the most expensive item on the list since you have to use more than you did for IVF. I ramped up to 4 patches every two days until transfer. There's also the option of oral estrogen which might be cheaper and I know someone else used (farmvillelover ?) so you could see if that's possible if the patches are prohibitively expensive.
Thanks so much everyone! That helps a lot to get a general idea.
satsuma Honestly, I guess I am not 100% sure they won't cover meds. They just told me they didn't cover anything for infertility so I assumed that included meds. That would be awesome if they covered some! I just picked up my BC pills and surprisingly they covered those so maybe they will cover more than I thought?

My insurance will require prior authorization for some medications that are typically used for a covered condition but might be used for a conditioned that's not covered. None of the FET meds are on there. I don't think insurance companies want to bother with checking on every Rx of BCPs.
