So my mom called because she wanted to know if she was justified or crazy - I said you guys are good at that, lol.
She had frames she likes and wanted to keep using. Glasses place said no problem, we can just put in the new lenses with her updated Rx. It took forever to get them back and when she did the frame was scratched (the front corner), like someone had used pliers that weren't coated. She asked them about it and they said they'd try to fix it. The guy said he painted them, but they still look bad. I had her send me a pic and it is actually noticeable (sometimes she gets upset and exaggerates, but this is legit). It's not horrendous and probably most people wouldn't point it out, but it bothers her and it sucks.
The problem is that the frames are several years old so they don't know if they can get the same ones in. If they can, I think it's fair to ask that they replace them. BUT if they can't, then she/they would have to pay for new frames and new lenses. Would you let it go in either case (she's waiting to hear back if they can find the frames)? Or would you make them get you new frames regardless?
FTR I think they are also in BEC territory here with her because she's had lots of problems with them in the past and won't be going back after this. They guy is also super awkward/mean even though she was trying to keep it light and jokey.

I replied, but it got lost somehow. My response was in line with InBetweenDays.
The thing that bothers me about this situation is that they said no problem.
They should try to find the same frames, maybe your mom can even look online. If found, they should pay for them. If they aren't found, they should let her choose something of equivalent value free of charge.
