You're going to have an awesome time in Europe, though, Munich would have been my preference
Nothing big planned this summer yet. We do have a hotel booked in Saratoga July 3-4. We'll be there for a concert that we thought we'd have tickets to both nights, but as it stands, we only have tickets to the 4th, so it might be a quick trip. We have a camping trip booked in NH first weekend in August and our annual Saco River canoe trip the last weekend in August.
I am sure at some point we'll go to the cape for the weekend and probably up to Maine again.
Trying to get down to DC at some point to visit friends.
I did just book flights yesterday to Jamaica in November for the 1 and only wedding we have this year (YESSS!). I am pumped for that. It's right after our terrible busy season ends at work, so it will be a very welcomed vacation.

That's what my Maine trip is too! We do a canoe trip with about a dozen friends every year, it is SO much fun! I love the Saco
Jamaica in November sounds awesome And I LOVE Saratoga. Is the show at SPAC?
Which weekend in August are you going? I organize the trip every year. We've been going since 2007 (before that we used to white water raft, but one year our boat flipped and people got hurt on a class V rapid, so no one wanted to go anymore). We've had as many as 60 people. It's nuts. We usually have closer to 20 though. That actually reminds me - I need to call Saco bound and book boats! Where do you guys put on and get off?
Yep - show is at SPAC (Dave Matthews Band). Tickets were a bitch to get and I've been trying to hunt down reasonably priced tickets for the show on the 3rd, but no dice. I absolutely love Saratoga though, so we might just go on the 3rd and bar hop and walk around and spend the night anyway even if we don't get tickets.
I leave for Paris early Tuesday morning (this Tuesday) and will have probably about six hours to wander. Still haven't decided yet what to do.
Have so. much. fun! I wouldn't even plan anything, I would just wander around, and stop to eat/people watch when I feel like it. If it's nice, I would probably just park myself in the Luxembourg gardens with snacks and a book.
And scm1011, your trip sounds amazing! We had actually planned to take a vacation this summer - my 40th is in June, and it's the first summer I didn't have any programs, never mind the double three-week one, so I was desperate to do something. But not so much in the cards now.
(At my last appointment, my OB realized the baby is due the week after my 40th, and she asked if I had any big plans to celebrate. I pointed to my stomach and said, "well, SOMETHING will be big anyway." She laughed and told me to save it for my 41st, when I really need it.)

This is so cool. We haven't done a big group trip in years. Partly because the last one we did was a bad experience (but that was because of the friends of friends that came along; the core group was still cool), partly because the only place we have a group of friends big enough to do something like this is in CA. Once they all started having kids, though, a lot of the social activities dropped off from what I understand (I moved back to Boston before all that). It'd be nice to have an annual tradition like yours.
The 60 person year was absolutely insane, only because I literally booked it less than 2 weeks before we went. I was hanging out at a bar with a friend of mine late one night and realized that a lot of people didn't have plans for labor day weekend. Suddenly we were calling/texting people to see if they wanted to do a canoe trip and then we booked 30 boats the following morning. The canoe place thought I was lying when I called to reserve the boats.
That was the year we managed to get a keg of beer in one of the canoes and people were doing keg stands in their canoe in the middle of the river. To be 23 again.....
donthasslethehoff, we're going the weekend of August 15th/16th. We rent from Saco River Canoe & Kayak in Fryeberg and start at their entry point, wherever that is. I'm not sure what the name of our exit point is, but I know its about 11 miles and most people seem to exit there. Last year was a bit of a disaster because everyone else thought someone else was bringing the beer, so we ended up having to beg beers off random strangers and tow people in exchange for drinks the whole time . Still fun though!
WHAT?!? I think our group would be more likely to forget basic camping essentials (like a tent) rather than the beer.
We get on right before Fiddlehead Campground (if you don't know where that is, it's the really busy camp ground right after the bridge) in Fryeburg. We also do like 11 miles and get off at Lovell (Lovewell?) Pond. Usually we camp right around mile marker 8/9 somewhere on one of the beaches.

I KNOW! We each had thought to bring 2 or 3 in our personal bags, but after that it was game on. Luckily we had quite a few attractive ladies in our crew that had no problem shimmying up to canoes in their bikinis to score beers off drunk dudes lol. We were all sufficently buzzed the whole time, don't you worry
We're complete alcoholics on that trip. Each person pretty much brings a 30 rack (we get on the river at like 10am, then are off the next day by~2ish), then my husband usually brings a huge bottle of Crown Royal and another friend brings a handle of Aguardiente. The bottles are finished before we camp, and usually each person only leaves with 3-4 beers in their cooler. I also make like 50 jello shots every year, but they're polished off about 20 minutes into the trip....
We leave Saturday for a week in Sedona. I'm stoked. We're going up to the Grand Canyon and maybe Bryce Canyon in Utah. I'm trying to convince my parents to go over to the Hoover Dam.
We leave for our Europe trip at the end of July. We fly into Frankfurt and will spend a week in Germany with a friend. We plan to end our 2.5 week trip in Barcelona, but we haven't figured out what we are doing in between yet.
We didn't have anything big planned, but Grandma just informed me last night she's getting re-married in June! OMG!! She's 93 people! So, now we have a trip out west...fun!! Work trips in June and August, plus my in-laws 40th of the 4th. Busy, busy, busy...

That's awesome! My baby is due 5 days after my birthday too! My dad is convinced she'll be born on my birthday. I wish I knew!!
No travel plans for us this year. I'm a bit disappointed, I was hoping to plan one last beach vacation before baby arrives but we ran out of time. Maybe next year we can do the Cape or something easy with her. I might try to go to FL to visit my parents during my maternity leave, so that might be fun, but doesn't really count as a "vacation".

Mine's technically 9 days, but since they plan to induce at 39 weeks, we'll be within a week of each other if I don't go early. My brother keeps asking if I want him to show up on my birthday, and I'm like, yeah, that's totally how I want to spend my birthday. In effing labor. No thank you.
If we can get a handle on him in time, I think we might try to sneak in a long weekend somewhere on my maternity leave. I'll be out through most of September, so we might be able to snag a last minute VRBO or something after labor day.
I've got a work trip to Orlando the last weekend of June/beginning of July and then I just put in a request for a week off in July but have no actual travel plans yet. Nothing super exciting on my end honestly.
We spend most of our summer weekends and weeks off at the Cape, and we usually do big trips in the fall/winter. We usually also do a weekend in the Berkshires in the summer, and sometimes a weekend on the Vineyard. There's no place I'd rather be in the summer than New England. I might tag along with H to Vegas in July (ugh) for a work trip, though.
I think we'll do a bigger trip in September. I want to go to Paris but H has been pushing for Spain. Maybe we'll do both. He also mentioned Tahiti last night.

Depending what you're trying to do, September in Spain is still pretty hot. I'd wait until October if you can swing it. (Unless you're going to the coast and plan on going to the beach)

October is a nice time of year to travel but we can't ever go then becuase of my H's work schedule. I don't mind hot. I've been to Spain in July/August and it was okay. I mostly just prefer to wait until the European tourist season is over.
mcc, I'm staying in Milwaukee but I'll be doing site visits in Waukesha, Eagle, and Whitewater. If you happen to have any Milwaukee restaurant recs I'd love to hear them!
ETA: congrats on the BF moving in, how exciting! I hope the transition is fun and easy!
