The woman in the field that I had a call with last week said she wasn't sure if I should go all the way for my CMP exam or not. (She isn't one and I'm sure a CMP will have a different opinion, some of the course instructors have the CMP so I can talk to them about it).
So this program will at least teach me what I don't know and help me decide whether to take the CMP exam or not.
My contact was all like, it's all who you know and what you've done... which, duh, but won't the CMP help if it's on all of these job postings?
I have to volunteer to work on a gala this year, it's one of the few types of event that I have never done

I do, too.
Continuing education does have its drawbacks. One of the people in my Business Writing II course that I took here a couple of years ago hadn't really taken um, how to have a job and write a sentence courses.
I think I missed all of this back to school stuff! What exactly do you want to do? I'm intrigued!
The part of my last job (in the maritime industry) that I really loved was managing our training seminar program and planning all of the events and meetings and stuff that went with this.
So I've decided to move forward into Corporate Meeting & Event Planning and this fall will be my continuing hours requirement if I decide to take the Certified Meeting Professional exam offered by the Convention Industry Council.

Great!
I'm glad that you have found something that will make you happy!
