If you've made it this far, I have a dog ownership poll for any of the H&G dog owners. 1) What kind of dog do you have, what size, and how old? - Doberman mix, 2y, 35lbs 2) Do you let your dog off leash in any unfenced areas of your property? Nope. His instincts would be to run directly into traffic. 3) Does your dog wear a collar inside the house? Yes 4) What's your dog's favorite chew toy? Treat? We have a whole family of Chew Tuff dinosaurs from Target. Rotisserie chicken is his currency. 5) How far/long do you walk your dog each day? 2x/day, abt 15 min, then we play a lot in the yard in the evening. 6) What's the best way to sweep dog hair off hardwood and tile? Her hair seems so static-y and the broom goes right over it. We have a rubbermaid wet mop that also has dry mop pads - I've found those to be the best at picking up dog hair. 7) Do you restrict access to any part of your house to your dog? If so, how do you keep them out: doors, gates, training? He generally thinks the house is his, and he just lets us live here. The only place he cant be is our bed when we're sleeping. But the little prince has his own bed at the foot of our bed.

Your pup is gorgeous!
Thanks! You're probably picking up on her Doberman half.
1) What kind of dog do you have, what size, and how old? We have 2. Willow, a Pointer Boxer mix, 6ish yo, 55ish lbs. Cricket, a Pit Boxer mix, 3ish yo, 60 lbs. Both are rescues so not sure of their exact ages.
2) Do you let your dog off leash in any unfenced areas of your property? No. We have leash laws in our area that require dogs to be leashed when in an unfenced area. Plus, unleashed dogs cause my two stress when out walking so I would never do that to another dog/owner.
3) Does your dog wear a collar inside the house? Yes, the only time they don't have a collar on is when we go to bed. 4) What's your dog's favorite chew toy? Treat? Nylabones! Both are BIG chewers. They love chicken jerkies (we get them at Costco) and Willow about loses her mind for the grain free lamb treats we also found at Costco.
5) How far/long do you walk your dog each day? Not far enough. Maybe a mile. But we also try to do training with them daily so that seems to tire them out too.
6) What's the best way to sweep dog hair off hardwood and tile? Her hair seems so static-y and the broom goes right over it. The swiffer is your friend. The static-y will help it cling to the pad.
7) Do you restrict access to any part of your house to your dog? If so, how do you keep them out: doors, gates, training? We close the doors on rooms we don't want them in. The LR is the only exception since the doorway is too wide for a gate. We just regularly told them No when we found them in there and they now get that it that this room isn't for dogs.

1) What kind of dog do you have, what size, and how old? - Two French Bulldogs, Dozer is 10 and Lexi is 5. They're both ginormous at 40ish pounds.
2) Do you let your dog off leash in any unfenced areas of your property? - Lexi, yes. Dozer, no. He runs. Just the other day I didn't realize the gate was open and I found him in the neighbors yard. Lexi was still in our yard. She never goes far from me.
3) Does your dog wear a collar inside the house? - Nope.
4) What's your dog's favorite chew toy? Treat? - They both like peanut butter rawhides and wheezie chews.
5) How far/long do you walk your dog each day? - Dozer can't walk well because he's old and has a bad back, but I walk Lexi about a mile and a half every other day.
6) What's the best way to sweep dog hair off hardwood and tile? Her hair seems so static-y and the broom goes right over it. - I like a regular Swiffer, but recently I bought a convertible Bissle vacuum that is a stick or a handheld and it's nice and light. Easy to use.
7) Do you restrict access to any part of your house to your dog? If so, how do you keep them out: doors, gates, training? - When we're not home they are gated in our kitchen/family room. Otherwise, there's no gates up when we're home.
1) What kind of dog do you have, what size, and how old? -A German Shepherd 85lbs 4yrs old, -A Rottweiler 65lbs 10months old, -A mini-Aussie 20 lbs 2 yrs old.
2) Do you let your dog off leash in any unfenced areas of your property? No.
3) Does your dog wear a collar inside the house? Yes.
4) What's your dog's favorite chew toy? Treat? Any and everything. They all love balls, soft toys, ropes, treats. They're not picky.
5) How far/long do you walk your dog each day? Depends. Sometimes not at all. Sometimes several miles.
6) What's the best way to sweep dog hair off hardwood and tile? I use a combo of broom and vacuuming.
7) Do you restrict access to any part of your house to your dog? They're not allowed on furniture. They respect that with training. They also are not allowed in the basement by themselves. Our kids playroom is down there and the puppy cannot be trusted not to chew up stuff. I have a very high tech method of keeping a 10in tall board in front of the stairs. Oddly enough they respect that and don't walk over it.
2. Not at all. Pyrs are well known for wanting to make all the land their territory so they'll just keep going and going. I never did with Kona and I'm not going to start now.
3. The Pyrs do. The old lady doesn't. Never has.
4. They all love Zuke's mini training treats. Kona doesn't really chew on toys much. The Pyrs will play with anything. Don't think they really have a favorite since everything is destroyed in 5 minutes anyway. They do love Nylabones and the Kong rubber bones. Those are the only two toys that they haven't been able to destroy.
5. We need to be better about walking them, but our long walk is a mile and a half, our short walk is maybe 3/4 of a mile. We don't take Kona often because she can't go very far, but we really need to be at least walking her down the block and back.
6. I vacuum it. Its the only way to pick up the amount of dog hair we have.
7. We keep gates up blocking off the kitchen and the bedrooms. So they're only in the living room/dining room where we can keep an eye on the puppy at all times. Once he's older, he'll have more free reign of the house. They sleep with us in our bedroom at night.

We don't. He can handle a few blocks to a restaurant, grocery store etc, but we don't regularly walk him.
6) What's the best way to sweep dog hair off hardwood and tile? Her hair seems so static-y and the broom goes right over it.
Our house is covered in dog hair.
7) Do you restrict access to any part of your house to your dog? If so, how do you keep them out: doors, gates, training?
As a puppy he was in a play pen during the day. Then we just closed off certain rooms like our bedroom (carpet). But now he has free range, though I'm pretty sure he sleeps on the couch all day.

1) What kind of dog do you have, what size, and how old? Rhodesian ridgeback mix, 55ish lbs, 4 or so years old and german shorthair pointer mix, 60 lbs, 5 or so years old 2) Do you let your dog off leash in any unfenced areas of your property? No. The GSP does go off leash when we go camping. She sits by us and follows me everywhere though. 3) Does your dog wear a collar inside the house? Yes. 4) What's your dog's favorite chew toy? Treat? They like those deer antlers or cow bones to chew on. Carrots or celery are treats in our house. Apple cores and veggie scraps occasionally too. 5) How far/long do you walk your dog each day? Not enough. I got out of the habit since we put a fence in the yard. 6) What's the best way to sweep dog hair off hardwood and tile? Her hair seems so static-y and the broom goes right over it. I have one of those rubbermaid mops like mentioned above. We also have a little stick vacuum. Easy for everyday use, but not as good as a real vacuum. 7) Do you restrict access to any part of your house to your dog? If so, how do you keep them out: doors, gates, training? They stay in the living room while we're gone. We close all doors and gate off the kitchen. We are now having problems with them jumping over the gate though...

1) What kind of dog do you have, what size, and how old? I have 60lb lab mix, and a 25lb Chihuahua mix, both 5-6 years old
2) Do you let your dog off leash in any unfenced areas of your property? no
3) Does your dog wear a collar inside the house? usually
4) What's your dog's favorite chew toy? Treat? the big dog prefers plush toys with squeakers that she can tear apart, and the small dog prefers smaller rubber squeaky toys. They really like all treats, haha. I like to give them fruitables.
5) How far/long do you walk your dog each day? Usually 1/4-1/2 mile on weekdays, and 1-2 miles on weekends.
6) What's the best way to sweep dog hair off hardwood and tile? Her hair seems so static-y and the broom goes right over it. I have a bona with a microfiber duster, but I usually just vacuum. There's an awesome Dyson attachment which gets hair off of upholstery. And I brush them with a funminator, which really helps.
7) Do you restrict access to any part of your house to your dog? If so, how do you keep them out: doors, gates, training? Only the bathroom, because they like to go in the trash. We close the door.
