I can't figure out what my options are for baby gates with this type of railing in our apartment:
It's the cast iron railing at both the top and the bottom of the stairs. They
It's definitely not sturdy enough for a tension gate and we obviously can't screw anything in to it. Anyone have any input?
(also, they have a railing guard over the railings so that a child couldn't fall through the giant gaps in the railing. I realize that photo looks like the railing could be a death trap for kids!)
Thank you! I assume that this style of gate is not going to be easily relocated from the top to bottom of the stairs, or vice versa, so I'll need two?
We always had the simple wood tension gates when I was growing up, so we moved them around. I have never used these type of gates.
yes easily movable if you have guest or need to move furniture but not easily movable if you are thinking about moving it daily. Then you will just need two.
Oh and do not forget. Pressure mount ONLY at the bottom if the stairs. You MUST hardware mount (into a stud) the gate at the top of the stairs.

I've heard the gates with the piece you have to step over is a fall hazard for the parents, especially when carrying a kid. I have a safety gate from this place (I think I have the top gate). cardinalgates.com/safety-gates.html
It is screwed into the wall on one side and the other side is zip tied to my banister. So it would only be a couple of screw marks if your place allows that.

Step over gates are NOT a trip hazzard on the bottom stairs. We use the swing one you linked for the top of the stairs to prevent tripping and since it is also hardware mounted. Then at the bottom we used the one I posted since there is not a trip hazard on the bottom. Both gates (the one you posted and the one I posted) are KidCo brand.

I'm extra clumsy. A piece of lint is a trip hazard for me.
