So I think I've styled myself as a crazy babywearing momma before our baby is even here. We have an Ergo, a mei tai, a woven wrap, and a Moby. But I keep seeing people who love their ring slings, so now I want a ring sling. I'm being crazy, right? I don't need a ring sling?

I'm a crazy carrier lady (1 canvas Tula, 1 wrap conversion tula, ergo sport, boba wrap, woven wrap, wrap conversion ring sling and a water ring sling) and feel you can never have too many options.
That being said, if you end up not liking the Moby, you can always just order a ring sling.

I would consider returning the Moby and getting a ring sling instead. I think the woven will be much more versatile and you can wrap a newbor with it if you want to wrap.
Do you have a local baby wearing group? Maybe you could try a ring sling out before you purchase one.
well.... i would ditch most of those in favour of a ring sling. a good ring sling and a good ssc will take you everywhere you need to go. i just had my wrap (a chimparoo, so not wildly expensive) cut into two ring slings so i can have one in the car and one in the house at all time. it's with the seamstress right now and i CANNOT WAIT to get my hands on them. i've had several ring slings and loved them all at various points, but the woven wrap conversions are held in highest regard. i've borrowed from friends and would agree. they are just so supportive even with a toddler. and a ring sling will take you from birth onward so you don't need the smaller weight carriers like a moby.
also, this is way late advice in your case, lol, but i strongly caution moms against buying all the carriers until after their baby is born. different carriers fit different size babies better.
i tried wrapping (hence the chimparoo), but realized as much as i love babywearing it i'm not THAT into it. maybe i would have been if i started when he was tiny and less mobile, but trying to learn with a flailing 8-10 month old wasn't working for me. so it sat in the closet until my last ring sling bit the dust and i realize i could chop the wrap and have all my dreams fulfilled

I had like 6 carriers before my baby arrived, and was still scrambling to get one that really worked for me after she was born. I'd recommend getting the phone number of someone local who can help you dialed in on speed dial before the baby arrives, and know the schedule/location of any babywearing meet ups in your area, especially if they have a local lending library. Unless there is a local place near you where you can go pick one up, I'd go ahead and get a wrap conversion ring sling now, because I found everything else somewhere between difficult and impossible to nurse in early, and 3 or 4 days for shipping on the carrier you realized you needed on a Friday night is a long time with a newborn at home. And babywearing is pretty frustrating when you have to pull your baby out to nurse every time she smells you, which is approximately how often my baby wanted to nurse when she was little. Get one with wide non-repeating stripes, like they have at Little Frog, because those are the easiest.

sillygoosegirl, good point about not being able to get one locally. We do have a local babywearing group with a lending library, so maybe I'll check out a ring sling from the library and go from there.
I'm actually that rare person who loves the Moby from my experience nannying, and never could get the hang of the ring sling, although I didn't try that hard. I think I'll probably need some help figuring it all out, so I'm glad there's a local group for support.
If you've got access to a library, I'd stop buying and borrow once you've got a baby.
I love my ring slings, though. A Maya (especially if it had a padded shoulder) is one a lot of people don't like. I have a pleated shoulder and an eesti (pleated/gathered hybrid) that I made out of a floppy tablecloth, and that will be the last carrier I stop using.
I have an Ergo, 2 ring slings (one is loaned out), a podaegi, and an onbuhimo. I've had and sold/gave away a couple of mei tais, a pouch, a different ring sling, and a woven wrap. It's a fun hobby. You can get rid of what you don't love later.
I would also wait. I do have to say I found my Moby and ring sling to be very different. I used my Moby when DD was tiny and put her on my chest. My ring sling was awesome when DD was about 4 months and up and I would do a hip carry. I also have 2 Ergos and much preferred the Moby and RS when she was an infant.
From day 1, my child hated facing towards me. So we never really wore her until she was old enough to face out. She also got heavy fast and even with the ergodynamics, she was still heavy. Stroller for life
What size ring sling do you need? I have a Maya wrap in olive that I've never used. To be honest, I just couldn't figure out baby wearing. I can send it to you for price of shipping if you'd like.
My kid loves the Ergo but hated the K'Tan. So yeah, it's Nice to try before buying or at least buy when you can return a couple of days later.
I agree with this. I had an ergo from DD but bought a k'tan thinking it would get a lot of use when I had DS since I needed to run after a toddler the second time around. DS liked the k'tan for the first 10 days and then screamed. He was much happier in the ergo with a A&A blanket rolled up under his feet.
I gave away my k'tan and used my ergo until he started walking and refused to be worn at all.
