So my mom started using Wen a couple months ago and she kept raving about her hair and kept trying to force a bottle on me and I kept refusing to try it because I will not spend that much on a bottle of shampoo/conditioner. So she is obsessed with the mango coconut and bought 3 small bottles of it (because it doesn't come in the gallon I guess) so the other day I was complaining about how frazzled my hair has been and she came out with a bottle and told me to try it. Well I tried it yesterday and damn it I like it. I didn't wash my hair this morning and am actually able to wear it down... usually day 2 hair for me is ponytail and typically I wash it every day. So far my only complaint is my hair is really fine as it is and it almost makes my hair too soft right after I wash it so my hair couldn't hold a curl or anything yesterday. Got any tips? Like do they make a volumizing one or something?
My mom made me try it too! I refused to buy it for a while b/c of the $$$, but now I am sold, & even the boyfriend won't use anything else now. They do make one that is volumizing -not sure which one though. QVC's website has a good explaining which kind does what.

I think the lavender one is volumizing but my mom bought a gallon of it and I smelled it and it smells TERRIBLE. I love just about anything with a lavender scent but i'm not sure I could get use to that smell.

do you use any gels or mousses? have you tried clipping the roots? you can co-wash with cheaper non silicone conditioners and get the same, if not better results than wen

I use pureology rootlift. What is "clipping the roots"?
There's also that Hair One stuff that Sally's sells that's supposed to be like Wen. I haven't used it, but I know others here have (Mav and GoDawgs maybe?). I'm guessing it would at least be cheaper?
I tried regular co-washing and have found that my hair does waaay better with Wen. Your mileage may vary.
As far as scents, you might try the sweet almond mint - people who have reviewed it seem to like the scent & it seems like a good middle of the road one. I have the fig, which is super duper moisturizing. I like the scent but you might not need something so heavy (since you're wanting volume - I want the opposite - hair that is less poofy). :-)
I use Sweet Almond Mint. It doesn't weigh my fine hair down that much. I've tried lavender, I agree with you about the scent, plus I didn't notice it did much of anything for volume. Pomegranate and fig were way too heavy for my hair. The new coconut mango one is ok, but still kind of too heavy for my hair. There was an awesome limited edition one out last winter, called winter vanilla mint, that smelled heavenly and was perfect on my hair...but it's not out anymore. I should have stocked up haha.
Oh, I've seen that advertised on t.v. and wondered if it was really good. I have frizzy hair that's just awful in the summer. How expensive is it? Also, where do they sell it?
You can get it on qvc.com or sephora.com, but sephora has limited products (only one scent, etc). Depending on the size you buy, 32 oz will run you $40-50. I don't wash my hair everyday, though, so the cost isn't quite as bad as it could be. They run specials occasionally too.

I felt like I lost a TON of hair when I tried Hair One. L'Oreal makes one too...EverCreme. It's part of their sulfate-free line. I have not tried it but have considered it.
I use Hair One and love it, but the other day I realized my bottle wasn't in the shower, so I "washed" my hair with a cheap bottle of Suave Keratin conditioner. The result was just as good as using Hair One and a bottle is super cheap. I think I'm going to start co washing using the Suave conditioner, and then wash once a week with a normal shampoo.

use roller clamps or duckbill clips to lift the hair away from the roots while it dries. it also makes that part of the hair dry faster
