I'm looking at babysitter profiles on Care.com.
There's an 18 year old woman who lives in my neighborhood looking for babysitting jobs and her hourly rate is $40-$50 an hour!
Everyone else I've looked at has been $5-$10 or $10-$15.

Maybe she hit the 4 instead of the 1. Or she's a nut.

Does she actually get any work?
It doesn't really say. But she has open availability, is available on short notice and has no references. So I'm thinking...no.

I think when they fill out their profiles it has the options listed. So you can choose $5-$10, $10-$15, etc, up until at least $40-$50 an hour I guess.
I don't think they actually type in the number. They just choose an option.

I say that because I once listed job on the site, and that is how I had to do it.

Ha! Oh, I didn't see this before. She has a note in her profile. "My rate is non-negotiable."
Hmm. I think she's been questioned on this before.

That's crazy. That's how much we paid our babysitter for a full day last week.

LOL. I'd be tempted to ask her "so, what exactly do you provide above and beyond the other sitters for $40/ hour?"

I would message her and ask exactly what my 40 per hour will get. Like will I come home to a spotless home and a newly university educated child?

I think the emphasis here is on what, ahem, SERVICES are included in this rate. And for which parent.
