Need more info. Has something changed in it's environment recently? Like sun/water exposure? Construction affecting the roots? It is irrigated? If so, describe the irrigation system and frequency.
Nothing has changed really. It gets full sun most of the day, we haven't had anything out of the ordinary in terms of rainfall. Not too wet, not too dry. No irrigation system. We're in Ohio, zone 5b.
We've lived here four years. I'd guess it's 10-15 years old?
They were like that last summer too, then greened up a bit, but now it's dropping more leaves than ever before. Our last two winters have been abnormally cold, even for Ohio.

Abnormally cold qualifies as a recent change in environment, and that's probably the cause. I've seen frost damage on multiple broadleaf evergreens her in zone 7. Gardenias and palms have taken a beating.
