So now the question is, did he get a ring because he really wants to marry Amy? Or did he get a ring because they've been dating five years and now she's pissed and this is just something that he's supposed to do? (Sheldon seems very big on complying with social expectations - example, making tea for a sad friend).
I see Sheldon as a robot/machine. The few times that he shows compassion and kindness aren't enough to balance out all the times he's a selfish jerk. It's nice that he's finally starting to show signs of warmth, especially toward Amy, but she put up with so much crap from him for so long that I really don't have any sympathy for him.
As for Leonard and Penny, their dynamic now seems really forced. I'm not sure why I feel this way, but their storyline strikes me as stale and boring and even they look like they're over it.
I've been rooting all season for her to DTMFA, so I was pleased.
Now Raj, on the other hand, shouldn't let that one go. He just needs to learn to be more assertive.
Eh, I'm not digging her personality. She seems very one-note.
Totally agree that he needs to be more aggressive, though. I get that he's sensitive and they play up his "feminine" qualities, but that schtick is getting old.
I mean, the show in general is getting old, but like Sheldon said I'm going to follow it to the end even if I'm no longer enjoying it (I wonder if they included that line in this episode as a subtle dig at TBBT itself?).

I did fee bad for Sheldon, I LIKE to think he was going to ask because he wanted to, not because it was the "social convention." At the beginning Amy was Sheldon, but with boobs, they completely changed her personality like whip lash, one day she's "I'm smarter than all of you", the next day she's all, give me the wine;with Sheldon they've been doing it very slowly.
I feel like ever since she's gotten married in real life the Penny and Leonard story line became blah. I'm like whatever, Penny's going to get upset, Leonard's going to say something stupid, they're going to fight, then have sex and boom every thing is better.
I'm waiting for Howard and Bernie to divorce, because straight up I want to smack her in the face. They've made her so rude and condescending, it's to the point that she's not even likable anymore. The whole eps with the TARDIS made me yell at my tv.
I like Raj with what's her face. She's odd and creepy, but he needs to stand up for himself, they play well off each other.

Howard's definitely a useless baby, but I don't like that they've made Bernadette into a naggy bitch toward him (and everyone else). I liked the beginning when she was all sweet and then she'd bust out a good one-liner every once in a while to put him in his place.
I don't mind Bernadette being assertive but, you're completely right, they've just made her into a rude jerk. She's a stupid sitcom cliche now, rather than a strong woman (which is why I never liked Debra Barone on Everybody Loves Raymond - typical harpy sitcom wife).
I hate that they've taken Bernadette into that territory- there was so much more potential there for a smart woman with an awesome job who's very feminine but doesn't take her husband's crap.

For me it started when Howard wanted to go to space and then went down hill from there. Really, he had a chance to go to space and you first tell him NO, and then "tattle" on him to his mother. And now with the whole Howard gets an allowance for doing chores. WTF. I get it, Howard is used to being "dominated" I use that word loosely, by women, now he's literally being treated like a child by his wife. Which is creepy if you think about it.......
You're absolutely right, they made such a great character with her being female in a strongly male dominated career, she's smart, doesn't take crap, but still sweet to her friends, she was well balanced at the beginning, and then boom harpy after she got married.

I think he probably does really want to marry her, at least I hope. He seems to be open & comfortable with her. I was happy when they had their sleepover a few episodes ago.
I think he was about to tell her that he wanted to move forward when he started the "relationships are hard..." speech during their video chat. I'm not sure if that was going to be the actual proposal or just an apology speech. "Relationships are hard but I want you to know I am sorry, etc. Let's redo our anniversary date night".
I'm also hoping that during Amy's step back to evaluate Sheldon will realize that he needs to go for it & makes a grand romantic gesture.
That would be neat to see.
With the way Sheldon's been throughout their relationship, a "grand gesture" doesn't even have to be anything big. It could be something that a "normal" boyfriend would do without thinking twice about it.

My bet - he'll rip up the Relationship Agreement.
I feel like they left the door open for him to do something since she asked for time to think vs. immediately breaking up with him. You're right even just normal, sweet boyfriend gesture would sweep her off her feet.
Also, I don't remember Leonard making out with some chick on that expedition, did I forget that scene or was it never actually shown?

I've seen the eps a few times and it was never shown. They only showed him partying when he got the phone call from Penny and Sheldon.

Ooooh ala Barney ripping up The Playbook.
Yes, although hopefully Sheldon doesn't have another copy hidden somewhere! (Also, hopefully TBBT doesn't end the way that HIMYM did. Yikes.)
Another twist could be that Sheldon shows Amy the receipt for the engagement ring and it pre-dates the fight they had about commitment in the season finale.
I really hate that they keep renewing this show. I'll follow it to the end but it's already losing steam. Again, see HIMYM's terrible finale.

I'm slowly re-watching HIMYM, and I'm at the part where Robin tells her father he's not invited to the wedding, but I'm thinking I don't want to go any further. I keep replaying the last eps in my head and what they did and I get angry.
Do you think he would show Amy the receipt, I think if they had Amy see the receipt it would be though snooping. I imagine Penny and Bernadette egging Amy on to snoop through Sheldon's desk drawers. Maybe Leonard see Sheldon with the ring, tells Penny and then that's when Penny and Bernadette get her to snoop.

I can't even rewatch the good HIMYM reruns anymore, the ending pissed me off so much.
Amy/the girls finding a receipt would be a good episode.
I can't imagine they'll keep Amy out of the show for very long. I think they'll get back together in November sweeps or around Christmas, and they'll get engaged in the 2016 season finale.
