I am having lots of precautionary things done this pregnancy because little man has been measuring small. I just was informed today that I get to start doing twice weekly nst tests and will go in probably for another ultrasound in 2 weeks. (I'm 34weeks today). Both of my girls were I guess smaller when born but never so small that I had all these extra precautions being taken (M was 7lb 5oz, J was 6lb 15oz). If it gets to the point of too much worry I could either be induced early or do some other tests like an amino and have a special ultrasound done to check for other blood flow issues.
Did anyone else have issues with a baby measuring small up until the end?
Thanks Oddly I'm not really worried at this point. I know ultra sounds weight estimates can be off. My measuring each dr appointment is still small as well but I've never been one to get a huge belly to begin with so..
Mostly its just stressful because I do have the girls to tend to and we don't really have the grandparents or family around to help out if needed. I have my dad who is great but he is only good for small doses when left alone, especially now that there are two. I feel horrible saying it but I just hope nothing else comes up that I have to add to doing every week but of course I want him to be healthy so we will do what needs to be done.
My sister had a very small baby, I think she was diagnosed with IUGR, and was induced early. Baby was around 5 lbs and is still around the 2nd percentile at one year. My sis ended up on hospital bed rest for a week or so before she was induced, but I'm not sure about monitoring before that. She did have a very stressful life at that time aside from pregnancy, and I know was not eating well and getting way too much exercise for the amount of calories she was consuming so perhaps those factors affected things.
Another friend had IUGR and was also induced early, in her case they believe a car accident a couple months earlier may have caused issues with the placenta. Baby is just fine now.

Well, mine was undiagnosed IUGR (intrauterine growth restriction). M was born just under 6lbs at birth (40w2d), and had some scary issues (low glucose, low coagulants/RBCs, dehydration, seizures). She was not tolerating labor well, which is why she wasn't moving the day I was in active labor, and why we went to the hospital. They took her via emergency c/s and straight to the NICU where she stayed for 7 days. She had to have an umbilical line since they couldn't find a spot for an IV, and her glucose was being checked hourly. She was put on phenobarbitol for her seizures, had a brain MRI showing brain bleeds. F/U MRI at 6 months showed they were gone. She had an EEG at 10 weeks to look for seizure activity, but none was found.
So with B, I was monitored closely, had weekly NSTs and US to check for proper growth/activity. He was born at 41 weeks via c/s at 8lb10oz and totally healthy.
Basically, every kid is different, just like every pregnancy. Maybe you just have small babies. But my OB didn't catch it, which I'm still miffed about. I wasn't gaining weight, my belly wasn't getting any bigger, and yet she didn't do anything about it. Since I was a FTM, I trusted her and thought everything was fine, and prepared for a vaginal delivery. The rest is history, I guess.
Hopefully your little one is safe and sound in there and growing well. Good luck and keep us posted!
Thanks everyone. I really appreciate it I am holding out that things will go well. I'd definitely like to avoid a c-section at all cost since I have the girls already and we really have no one around for the help lol.
