I had surgery on my wrist to remove a ganglion cyst this morning. I'm not sure if it is because I was a command interest but everyone was amazing. I feel like writing like a million positive ICE comments. That is all
Noooo! Don't say that! Our upcoming PCS will qualify for prime remote. I'm thinking of just switching to standard though.
It's just because of where we are. I hope your experience is better.
I saw a civilian provider (off base, accepted Tricare and other insurance) at one assignment location. They were _awesome_! Evening hours, _weekend_ appointments! And an online portal that actually worked, so I could send in questions to my doc, and check lab results, etc...
And, heck, any specialty care I've had has basically been off-base, and it's been mixed. Saw one endo that had the world's worst bedside manner (back in WA), but usually they've been pretty decent. (says the woman who is still groggy from her overnight sleep study, at a sleep lab here... anything beyond sniffles and boo-boos is tossed out to civilian providers here, pretty much...)

Very honestly, it's because we're so far from a base rather than just off base with a lot of experience with Tricare/Prime. Every time I explain to them that they can't photocopy my ID (per DoD rules), they get annoyed and argue with me. I'm constantly getting letters that threaten to come after me for what Tricare won't cover (my physical therapy after my broken legs for example). It sucks because we're in a region of the country where I would expect people to be more military friendly, and they are not. I'm glad your experience is good though!
They aren't supposed to copy my ID? Oops...
(or, is that just the dependent's ID? I've honestly never been told that it shouldn't be photocopied anymore... it bugged me a bit more when it had DH's social on it. But, I figure if they have to observe HIPAA, then I can probably trust them with the ID...)
I take the second article to mean no ID, dependent or member, since bad guys can use info on dependent IDs as well.
Huh. Interesting. I'd be curious about the definition of "government agency" and "commercial establishments" for those articles. I don't really think of an off-base non-military clinic as either, but would almost say they are closer to a government agency (executing a task on behalf of the referral from a government agency...).
Neither article is clear on if it's just the mil id, or the mil dependent id, either. The "security" on a military dependent ID is laughable, already, though, so I'm not sure it'll be my hill to fuss about... I have no idea if these places ask to copy DH's ID. I've had to use copies of his ID for visa applications several times, but anything beyond that is out of my knowledge.
