Why does it have to be so ridiculous?!
I just got a new cell phone plan and new phones. Awesome! I set up the account under H's name so that we can get the military discount. Yes, I set it up, which means I typed in his ssn, dl, and every other verifying amount of data. I'm a mil spouse; I can rattle his ssn faster than mine.
So, now I'm trying to get my old number ported, and it screwed up my phone which now can't any make outgoing calls. But it also took the # from my old phone and disabled it.
They need to speak to my husband to verify the account to get me to tech support. Again, I have all the verifying information, but they need to speak with him. Except, the only way they'd know it was actually him is if there's a male voice. I could literally walk down the street, find a random male stranger, and that would work if I told him what to say. How is that more secure?
I even tried to pull the "he's traveling" card, and they're like, so, can you call him? Right, because people traveling are easy to reach (ftr, he just got home, so it was only a minor lie. And he'll be leaving again soon). Yes, my phone that doesn't make outgoing calls can totally reach him wherever he is.
So, now, I'm without a phone, which wouldn't be the end of the world, except I'm also now without a car b/c the friend I lent it to didn't tell me how jacked it was, so I have to take it in for repair. And they can't call me.
Goddamn. And this was why verizon lost me lo those many years ago. T-Mo wouldn't have done this to me. In fact, they outsource their support so that they call me Ms H's (obviously male) name with no problem
