I can't believe I'm quitting to go help my friend run his own firm. I'm so scared but am feeling so invigorated about my career in a way I've never felt before. Holy shit. I'm really doing this!
I did it! Omg it feels so amazing and I can't wait to get started. A little nervous, but hopeful it will all pan out.
@myname I've worked at a few that had super awful leadership. So I'm excited to hopefully be the leader I've always wished I had!
Yes! That is the best part - you have the power to take on new tasks and set policies because someone has to and everyone is busy. I started as the office manager at my first job out of college, where the owners wanted to be "artists" rather than businessmen (we made commercial signage in Boston). I left as the GM and managed the biggest project they ever had.
Now I work for a tiny asset management firm in NYC. I started as the Ops person, and when my research analyst cw left, I took that on too since I had my MBA. I swear they hired me because I told the Managing Director that my first job was for my father's company and he told me that my job description was "to do whatever needs to be done."
I have contemplated selling my soul to Corporate America, but I can't pull the trigger. I think you are in a great situation, and you will maximize the potential! Very happy for you!!
