I have no idea but just wanted to say how brave you are for looking!
I had a horrible cough when my baby was born, and the nurses assured me it would be very very hard to tear/break my stitches. Because w every cough I was sure I had.
I realized I had a problem about 10 days PP and went in. I had popped my stitches. It was too late to do anything without going to a specialist and getting numbed and restitched, and they said even then it probably wouldn't heal properly. I elected not to go since it was cosmetic. I'm jacked up for life.
Not to scare you, but don't wait if you think something's wrong.

Did you do something that makes you think you tore them? I looked very "not right" where my stiches were for a long time but I waited it out. There was kind of an extra flap of skin where it looked like things had not gotten lined up quite right. At my 6 week appt the OB just said to give it a little longer to heal and sure enough it eventually all looked ok again.
Never hurts to call the doc and get their opinion.
Well, supposedly my tear wasn't as bad this time but last time I looked entirely 'normal' afterwards (like 4/5 PP). I have some significant haemorrhoids going on and now there seems to be this one section between my vagina and anus that looks like it is split open/ has a flap. Certainly doesn't look 'right'.
Sigh. I thought my second was supposed to go more smoothly???

rugbywife I felt the same way. I also tore less with my second so I was shocked how much worse it looked. It did take a lot longer to heal because of the flap, but now that it's healed it doesn't look any worse than after my first. Sorry you have to deal with this!
I had a 4th degree tear and too many stitches that the doctor wouldn't give me a number. I had other complications and had to see my OB weekly for 6 weeks following delivery. I was certain a stitch had popped and at one of those appts. I had him look. Nope, everything was in place and healing fine, it just felt like it was all falling apart. Hopefully that's the case with you.
I thought I was just a wimp and suffered through the pain. Turns out I had ripped them all out and at my 6 week check up I was not cleared. They said I could be careful, soak in a sitz bath twice a day, and wait OR they could restitch me up and start the whole process again. I decided to wait because they said that was the easier choice especially if I was having more kids. Everything healed up normally, but I really wished that I had gone in earlier. I pretty much couldn't walk without excruciating pain for 12+ weeks and I went back to work as a teacher at 9 weeks.

You can get them checked if you're really concerned, but I remember looking (against all reason) at about 5 days pp, and I came out and told my husband, "I think they sewed it wrong!" It did not look or feel right for quite a while, but went back to normal eventually.

I'd get it checked out. I was afraid to look until I had this one sensitive spot that seemed to be bleeding. Sure enough, I had a random piece of tissue sticking out. My appointment was the next day and she just removed it. I kinda wish I had seen it earlier, though it wasn't a huge deal. Better to get it checked and have it be nothing then end up having it become a bigger issue.
I am going to call my OBs office on Monday. If they won't see me I will go see my PCP. I just want someone to look at and tell me that it is normal. So I can argue with them. Because it's not.
