We have a kenmore elite and really like it. It is made by LG and their fridges can make a higher pitched hum, but I think we only notice it b/c our fridge isn't built in.
We went with the slimline model that's only 30" wide for when we remodel.
I absolutely adore my Samsung french door. One of the nice features is the freezer door handle hinges up a little bit and breaks the seal when you open it. I'm sure you've experienced having to tug on freezer doors before and french doors can be a little fun since it is low, but the Samsung eazes right open with no problem.

Ditto on the Samsung. I love ours. It makes a dinging sound if the doors are left open too long, and one other thing I liked about it when shopping was that the bins inside the fridge slide in and out very smoothly. Some fridges have bins that seem clunky and scrape along the opening when you slide them out, and this became a major pet peeve of mine when refrigerator shopping . I also noticed that our produce stays fresh longer in the new fridge than our old one, which I think is due to the humidity controls.
Thirding the Samsung. I love my refridgerator! It has shelfs that slide forward and back allowing more room in places for taller items. Mine has an ice maker in the top (door) and one in the drawer which is great for when we entertain!
It has so much room and I like that I can easily manipulate the shelves. We've also loved having the dual ice maker.
Also, and I know this is probably the same for all bottom freezers, but I love having that as opposed to a side-by-side. I felt like I had so much wasted space in the side-by-side.

We have a Samsung too. I have no water/iceman we in the door and love it. The fridge has lots of room and I love the freezer it is large and it's easy to find items.
