I'd like to get a gas grill this summer. Is there a best time of year for grill sales and where is the best place to get a good deal? I was going to get one at lowes bc I can get 10% off.
Weber...but good luck in getting a deal. We have been on the hunt for months, while our current grill dies a long, painful death, and will likely bite the bullet this weekend.
It depends what part of the country you are in, but if you can wait till the end of the summer you should be able to get a better deal. There will be some sales this weekend, but the deep discounts won't be for a while.
We bought our Weber gas grill 5 years ago at Lowes. The sales guy said we could spend less but we would be buying a new grill sooner than if we spent more on the Weber. We've had to replace a few things here and there, but that's more because DH is lazy and doesn't use the cover during the storms/winter. Overall, we've been very pleased with our Weber from Lowes. They delivered, they set the whole thing up, and have had all of the replacement stuff we've needed.
Ours is also dying a slow death, but we are going to try to wait until after July 4th because I think prices will drop then. But, if you don't have one, and want to enjoy it this summer, you may want to go ahead because I don't think there will be crazy drops.
Weber is the best known, but we actually have an off-brand from Lowes--I don't even know what kind--and it has lasted 8 years being outside the whole time through some nasty winters. (We do cover it, but just with a tarp-like grill cover.) I think we could get by with it longer, but my husband is ready for a shiny new grill, and he uses it a lot, so he deserves it.
Just be careful ordering it online, you will most likely have to put it together! (unless, of course, you like that sort of thing…)
Our grill is about that age too and while the outside still looks great, the guts are dying. Even though it is a mainstream brand (Charbroil, one of the top of the line models) you can no longer get the burners for it anywhere. SO jerry rigged it last summer with burners that did not fit correctly (the closest fit he could find though) and there is now no control of the flame, so the grill is either on or off.
We just went to Lowe's and ordered the Weber he's been looking at and waiting for the price to drop for nearly a year. I signed up for their CC and got 5% off.....whoppee!
We just got a char broil from Lowe's. Ordered on line via ebates. Got 6% off from ebates, grill was $50 off at Lowes plus free set up, shipping & haul away of the old one.

Don't know about deals but you less you are a grilling snob and need charcoal or the green egg, I would only look at weber gas grills. We had cheap grills in the past and never again...
Webers just last longer and our seemingly better quality. The best part is you can always buy replacement parts easily so it will really last as long as you need it too.

If you have an HHGregg by you, I would check them out. They're willing to do the most negotiating in my experience.
They check competitors prices right there in the store, and will match and/or take money off. You have 30 days for price matching if you find it cheaper somewhere else during the thirty days post-purchase. They also frequently have visa rebate cards.
I don't have a grill right now and I'm not in a super big hurry to get it. If I can get a better deal waiting until the end of summer I'm cool with that. I can grill 9 months out of the year here so I'd still get a few months out of it this year.

Yes we do have one here, I've never been to it and didn't know they had grills (in fact I have no idea what they sell there!)

They're simolar to a Best Buy. They may not have as good a selection, but they'll do the legwork Of price matching.
Just be sure you answer when they call, usually within a few hours of purchase. I looked it up online and some people had issues receiving if they didn't answer. I did, and giftcards came to me in minutes after hanging up.
I found a great deal at a warehouse sale when I bought our grill. I saw the ad on CL and then googled to find out more about the warehouse. Saved $250 on the Weber grill and assembly wasn't too hard. The hardest part was moving all the heavy pieces -- it was a surprise for H or I'd have asked his help.
Weber! Just make sure you get stainless grates not the porcelain enamel ones inside. The porcelain ones degrade pretty quickly and the stainless ones last forever.

We just bought this Char Broil grill and love it (we were on a TINY little weber that was more meant for tailgaiting, so big upgrade) and I just saw it's on sale at Lowes for $150 which is a steal. Great brand and even if it doesn't last forever it's still a fabulous deal!)

Weber has a lifetime warranty. We spent a lot on ours ( maybe around $800) but 7 years later working great and have never had s problem. Ours is stainless steel, we have a gas hook up at our house installed for it ( love it, no canisters to fill), and we have a side burner too. You can go a bit Cheaper for it and much more too.
I don't know about deals but hands down get a weber. You'll pay more upfront but they last so much longer. Ours is 5 years old - sits outside year round and still looks new and we use it 3 times a week.
