We could get away with once or twice a week in the winter, but it is shaping up to be every night now that we go to the park every day. How do I prevent his already dry skin from becoming worse?
We have always bathed everyday for all 3 aftwr the first few weems of life. Its part of our bedtime routine. We only use soap every few days. We use Dove sensitive/unscented bar for their bodies and mustela 3 in 1 shampoo for their hair. I then use Neosporin eczema care lotion on their skin every night.
Eta: I do use soap more often in the summer because we only use physical sunblock and they get pretty gross every day at the park.

Only 2-3 times a week in the winter. In the summer we still only do 3-4 times a week. We are just too busy most evenings it seems to get good bath time in. We definitely wipe down hands and feet and faces with a wet washcloth in between.

We just bumped it up to every night, maybe skipping 1 night per week. He loves it and i think he sleeps better after a bath. During the winter he was bathed twice per week.
I used burt's bees original lotion all over and Eucerin ecxema cream on his bad spots like behind his knees.

We had been only doing 2x a week, but I realize I'm going to have to bump it up to at least 4 or 5x a week now that she gets sun screen and dirt on her all the time. Her first summer she wasn't crawling so she stayed relatively clean.

pretty much every night now it's summer.
I use gentle soap and some nights no soap at all. Plain Ivory when I do use soap. Sometimes the Aveeno oatmeal bath. Baking soda sometimes. I also taught DD to shower with me quick pretty early on. Saves time I get her washed really well and she's only in about 2 minutes so way easier on her skin.

I will also ditto the Burt's Bees Lotion.
Is showering with toddlers feasible with only one parent?

Every night. It's always been part of our bed time routine and he loves it. In the winter we only use soap like 2x per week but now with the nasty sunscreen and playing outside everyday, it seems like I'm using soap most days. We use Aveeno soap and lotion and his skin isn't dry.

I do it all the time. H is rarely rarely around at bathtime. She's almost 4 but we've been doing it since 1.5ish or so. I turn the water on. We both get in. When she was younger I would keep her in until I was almost done. Then just set her out real quick and wrap her in a towel while I rinsed my hair or whatever. It was not relaxing but did the job. She's now almost 4 so she gets herself in and out pretty well. She gets out, dries herself off, runs and gets her pjs while I finish.
I've tried with DS who is a bit over 1. He does fine but not he greatest. I do have to make it fast with him but sometimes he crawls out and then sits on the floor while I finish, wet and naked...lol. He doesn't seem to care. My bathroom is pretty warm though and I keep all the doors shut so neither is getting in trouble.
Ideally, every other night, but some days he's just too gross. He's a messy eater, who sweats and plays in the dirt (while wearing sunblock). It's a disgusting combination.
I haven't washed hair in a couple months. I do comb it out with a little water every couple days.
WUT?
Her hair isn't oily or stinky and she hates it. I don't see a reason to forcibly wash her hair. As for bathing, I wash my kids when they are dirty, but they generally aren't playing in the mud.
usually 2x/week. if she gets dirty on another day we do bathe her though, so I am sure in the summer it will be more, even if it's just a quick rinse off.
Months just seems like a really long time to go between hair washings. Kids have to do a lot of things they hate doing.
I'm with mofongo on this one... S cries every time I wash his hair (every 3 days) but he has a ton of it and his head is the sweatiest part of his body. Too bad, so sad kid. It's over in less than 2 minutes!
Yeah...somehow DD's head never gets nasty/smelly, but I still force myself to deal with the screaming at least once/week.
