I just commissioned a portrait of my DH from an artist on Tumblr.  I'm so excited...her work looks amazing, and it was very affordable (about 60 Euros, so a little over $60).  I can't wait to see it!  Here's some of her stuff:

LOL, my DH is *way* cuter than Tom Hardy.  ;-)



(Sorry Tom Hardy fans, I had to).  In actuality, I don't really like Tom Hardy, but I saw that portrait and was like, "Dayum.  I might have to change my mind about him."  And then I saw some of her other stuff and really liked it.  DH actually does look a little like Idris Elba (in terms of being black and having the goatee and everything) so I think she'll do a good job with the color palette, etc.  I usually try not to put identifying stuff on the boards, but I'll definitely show it to you guys when it's done.  I had a Tumblr artist do an ink sketch of DS a few years ago and that came out GREAT, so I'm hopeful.  Even if it sucks, I've wasted $60 on stupider stuff.

It's done! It looks exactly like him, and overall I'm super happy with it, but it didn't strike me until it was done how weird it would be to see a painted portrait of him. It makes me think of the portraits in the conference rooms at work, which is kind of surreal. It also made me realize how much he looks like his dad. Not sure exactly how or where we would display it if I do get it printed to canvas like I originally thought, but it's fun to have! I'll leave it up for a day and then remove it, so please don't quote. If anyone is interested in the artist, her website is watermarked on all the pics above.
