I think my 2 year old girl might have a yeast infection. Not sure if it's internal or just external. She's had a persistent yeast rash for ages and we finally just gave up as it wasn't bothering her or getting worse, and figured it would go away when we potty train. Doctor had no real ideas beyond the Lotrimin cream. But now, in the past few days, she's been complaining that her "butt hurts" and pointing to/rubbing her genitals when I ask where exactly it hurts. It looks red. I'm thinking maybe it's the yeast. Has anyone had this happen with a little kid, and what does the doctor do about it?
My 2 year old niece has a chronic yeast problem. Her pedi prescribes Nystatin when it flares up. Does she eat yogurt and/or take a probiotic? Good bacteria can help combat yeast.
I'd probably call the pedi if it's bothering her that much.
