Thank you to everyone who helped me get excited about visiting London! I LOVED the city and it was not nearly as crowded as I'd feared. I even got one of those handy dandy "Baby on Board!" pins for the tube and wore it around town so people didn't think I was being an ass by taking the only seat left.
A local said that they'd been encouraged to work from home and go on vacation if they weren't attending the games, which would explain why the city and public transportation systems really weren't crazy crowded.
We found the tube cheap and very easy to navigate. I was even impressed by how clean the stations were compared to other cities, but then again they could have just spruced it up for the games.
Along with doing some usual touristy stuff like Buckingham Palace, we went to a couple of Olympic events and ventured a little way outside of the city, to Leavesden, for the Harry Potter Experience! I'm nerdy enough to say it was my favorite part of the trip!

Just read it - very cool that you saw handball! My husband just retired from the Chilean national team, and our friend's wife is on the Brazilian team that you saw play
When do your sports travels finally come to an end? I'm assuming your other post about Sochi and the World Cup are for this, right? I hadn't realized it was spread out over so much time!
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime. Mark Twain
